Wet test days are brilliant unless your the one on the spanners getting shitty.
You need to change the way you drive and your line with the arb off .... in my opinion anyway
I have no idea what lap time i.have ever done on a track day (except 1 i can think of) and i have done hundreds ..... want to know your lap time do a test day with the big boys
Go test in the wet ,raceday isnt the time to find out .....
When we have tried it gained marginally but lost consistancy and feel on turn in ..... however that could have been overcome with time
Nobody wants extra weight .... another big issue is the ballast box is a fixed position is it not ? Passanger foot well ..... and it upsets balance which has more effect
I was trying too look at the lap charts to get an exact ... but it depends on so many things.
The hard or soft tyre , what circuit and the weather ..... hot and dry on a tight circuit then maximum penalty ... a wet day on for example snet and it would have much.less .
And dont forget not...
I bet if you look at plato with and without balast on a given day the ultimate lap times with and without 45kgs of ballast isnt huge.
Fair play tony to bang out lap after lap within a few hundredths but you should be as you know .... consistency is whats needed..... after consistancy i look how...
Last year of me karting i strived to loose the 6kgs i was over the weight limit ... when total weights are 177kgs 6 sounds alot .... reality is 3% ..... didnt stop fastest laps and consistant top 5 finishes including wins .....
As Caged make FIA/MSA cages all the time to a very high standard , along with caterham chassis ,and the new titanium atom chassis they have just built, i would suggest that Phil@Caged knows more than a thing or to about designing, stress testing and building cages.
I know this having personally...
Controlling body roll is a combination of CoG , anti roll bars front and rear and spring rates and damper valving .
the first step is to uprate roll bars ,as there are many very compliant cars from a damping point of view that don't roll hugely due to the stiff ness of the rollbars
basics _...
i didn't say he was , i was saying even if you did you would not be close .
if your that set on trackday driving then there is a reason 7 esq cars are the most used on track days acros the country ............ or as Sir Dave says , stick some sticky tyres on the clio and enjoy it as it is ...
And then you buy one of those and discover all the ultimate bits you need for that and then next thing you know you don't have a cheap track car anymore
but it was fun developing building and driving past caterham owners who always felt superior (just best not to tell them you had...
to be fair , if you want a dedicated fun light fast track car ,sell the clio and buy something better as you have already said track only ...... your track time smiles will increase by a huge margin (thats about 400bhp/ton )
if you want to put huge effort into the clio then fair enough .... but...
Its been pretty crap for years now in all honesty , i usually get given tickets and i havn't bothered , pretty poor after the first few years of the live arena if i am putting a date to it .
Boat show (which i also get tickets for ) i didn't bother with this year either and apparently its alot...
The speedo question is being asked to identify where the fault might lie
If the speedo goes up but no drive its likely to be output related eg drive shafts diff etc.
If the speedo does not rise its likely its input related as the box isnt being turned by the engine and you would be looking at...
Standard lotus, standard lotus dealers................ Try having a new one and they tell you that's not covered under warranty every time something breaks.
all that is then outweighed every time it does not break ...... and if you think they are bad , try a ferrari LOL
Most decent modern cars that run fly by wire throttle cut the throttle signal via the brake light switch hence why bother trying to heal and toe ..... brake and block.change , its far far less transmision stress far better way to drive .......
And the heel and toe because racecar driver is...
