I'm going to go and have a little sob in the corner
after that I'm going see about Agency transmission re-conning my old box which I'll put back in once returned,
plus I may have forgotten how long its just taken me by then, still to get the 438's mapped too, this is going to cost £££...
Sorry fella, yes the gearbox came with the engine, supposed to have only done 37k and that's whats now in the car, my 90k old box has no problems apart from been on the floor in the garage
Hi, just finished dropping a 37k mile engine into my ph1, took a while but managed to get the gear linkage sorted and it goes into all the right gears when stood still, but when on the move it crunches into 3rd and 4th, not too bad but it wasn't there on my old 90k miler and is annoying,
so the...
I don't think the bearing can be changed, I just replaced the alternator, but it means going through the process you'd normal do for changing the aux belt, theres a guide for it, but its a bit of a pain in the back side, pretty tight. (I'm assuming you've still got your aircon, if not its alot...
Cheers fella's, I've only heard good things about Paul but just wanted to check given the last few posts, and just for information I would have gone RS2 would it have been available when I made my purchase of the 438's, really like the flat torque curve.
The mirror and laser / gauge are pretty low to the floor, mines just on some prolines, but it fits comfortably under the edge of the tyre / front bumper and would imagine you'd have to be a good 4 - 5 cm lower to start effecting them. Don't get me wrong they're not up to the quality of proper...
I got one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trackace-Laser-Wheel-Alignment-System-Tracking-Gauges-Toe-in-Out-Tool-Tracker-/300814333955?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item4609ee7803
incase you want something to help you out, not the best admittedly but seems to do the job to a basic...
I had this same problem timing mine up and found after I'd set it correctly the car pulled alot better low down, and felt better 5k+ rpm onwards, I think advancing the inlet timing will only really help if you shorten the inlet manifold i.e. the RS2 or ITB's
so as the title suggests, I've got a n/a clio 172 ph1 engine 37k on the clock with no mods at current but I'm wanting to replace the cams while its still sat in the garage before I drop it in the car, so if you could help with these few points please I'd be very grateful (unless there's a...
Mine does the same, still not figured it out, and I've changed everything, including injectors, and no fault codes just a random misfire at low revs but when accelerating.
Taken me bloody ages to read this from start to finish (well done by the way, looks great, if not a bit rough around the edges ;)) only to find no update since the 13th, I was hoping to have seen it finished or at least nearly!
I needed spring clamps, don't know how the front springs on the Ph1's differ from the ph2's but just be careful is all I'm saying, will do some damage if there's tension on the springs when you take the top mount off.
Also don't forget you need to get it tracked up once the springs have settled.
There's a number of things this could be, but if its not even firing it sounds like an immobiliser possibly, it maybe an issue with your ignition key, have you tried your spare if you have one? Is it even trying to start i.e. spluttering etc. when its failing to start?
could be your idle...
Just to finish this post off, I took the time belt off, re-timed the engine up (note, ensure crank pulley is free to move once crack is locked), this retarded the timing by a few degree.
I didn't realise how crap my car was before, it pulls better, accelerates faster, runs smoother and puts a...
I only say about the timing as mine is out on the inlet and has an occasional misfire on low rpm / set off / cold + rough idle but is fine when driven above 1.5 - 2k rpm.
before knowing about the timing I've replaced coil pack, leads, plugs, MAP sensor, O2 sensor, air temp sensor and tdc, but...
