No need to cut any thing It's quite easy to get the top of the dash off and then just swap the tweeters! Here's the guide for removing it! Although I'm not sure how different the 172 dash is. http://www.cliosport.net/content/guides/fubar/ph2_dashboard.pdf

The airbag will clean up ok! I use saddle soap on mine takes all the shine off leaving it nice and matt again, it's also great at keeping steering wheels like new! Whats the colour match like Mick?
