Had mine ph2 172 dynoed. Varied between 171-176bhp at the fly on a few seperate occasions on different rollers. This was with just a cat-back zorst and the removal of the accoustic valve.
Mine does pull well;)
Thanks for the detailed response! Don't forget to keep us all informed with how you get on with them, as i'm sure their are quite a few people who are interested in this. I certainly am!
:)
Whats people's opinions on these, as i'm thinking about getting them installed, seem great for the price but a tad weary. Any one have anymore info, tried & tested for example ?
:)
There is a guide on here somewhere about how to do it. That's what I followed. Easy enough to do 1hr tops, can easily be put back also. Make sure you find the guide with the pic's, makes life a lot easier.
The car felt more responsive, seemed to pull harder across the rev range. Worth doing imo as it's FREE. Some people notice a difference, some don't. I did though.
The 172 is a fair bit quicker in a straight line than the "earlier supercharged" Cooper s(both standard).
It's more comparable in straight line performance with the "later turbocharged" Cooper s, (wife owns a 08 one) .
Having driven both, I would have to say that her car has better in gear...
All I have done is remove the accoustic valve and fitted a cat back performance exhaust.

Why? My wife owns the later turboed variant, yes her car is standard yes it's slightly quicker than the earlier cooper s. But it's not quicker than the 172. Not much in it granted, but yes it is slower.
My wife owns a 08 plate Cooper s. Well built car imo.
........you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever against the cooper s. If you do, it's your driving or your cars F****D.
