Fair point.
I think most yoofs from Bradford that drive Golf Rs and A45s would struggle to know what those cars are though 😂 Perhaps I should have said "reintroduced". Weirdly though, the cars above probably aren't really known as hot hatches, but just as homologation specials.
It's a bit of a weird one, as I think you could argue that cars like the Talbot Sunbeam Ti/Lotus and Vauxhall Chevette HS/HSR are hot hatches, but they pre-date the Golf GTI, which people claim started the genre.
I think the lines have been blurred a bit in the last few years with the advent of the 'hyper hatch', which has introduced 4WD and outputs that are, in some cases, well north of 300bhp. We've now ended up with three categories; warm hatches (Suzuki Swift Sport, Fiesta Zetec-S etc), then hot...
I'm a bit confused. Seen a lot of it on PH and on here. I don't understand why the M140i isn't a hot hatch? It has a hatch, it's got five seats, it's in the C-segment, it's fairly quick and handles reasonably well, has sporting intentions. Why is it not a hot hatch? And if it isn't, what is it...
Just stumbled across this. No pictures yet, but they're claiming it's the car used in the add running for the new Clio.

They appear to have a couple of others listed too.
Indeed. I think you could argue that the Sachs hardware isn't actually very good at all, as they don't seem to last all that long before rebuilds.
The money is in the ride tuning, and most people don't have access to the equipment to get that right, while most off-the-shelf coilovers are...
It's definitely a nice/interesting car for sure. I just don't think I could put it in the top ten. Not because it's bad, because so much other stuff is so good lol.
The poll had pretty strict rules so it had to be a specific model, hence Trophy and 172 Cup. I've not been in a Trophy, but I...
Not a bad list overall, though I would disagree with some of it. A crime that there is no MK3 Megane RS on the list, and there is simply no way that the M140i or 147 GTA are anywhere near the top ten hot hatches. The BMW being that high is just because PH is full of fanboys.
The button in the centre of the diamond on the boot can be used to lock the car - at least it can on the 197, I assume the 200 is the same. That might help you in the meantime. It should unlock when you go to open the boot, or grab the door handles.
I'd probably try the batteries first, as it's easy and rules it out.
The buttons in the door handles can stop working, but you can strip the handles down and replace them. A guy on Clio197.net can get the buttons.
Does the button on the boot do anything?
This. I wouldn't modify an exhaust that's been designed with the dual outlets (well, as much as some aftermarket exhausts are 'designed'). Easier to just sell it and buy a single outlet version for a 172, then swap the rear bumper too.
I'm with you to be honest. If I was doing a...
Look how young he looks there! Got a lot of time for Ingram, seems a good lad. Done really well this year to win the ERC title.
There are definitely gains to be had by ditching the twist beam on rally cars. All the teams did it back in the F2 days. As you say, there are good gains in travel for...
Just watched the video. Quite interesting to think of it in those terms. Watched one of his other videos too. Not one of the worst I've seen. Like his R34 too.
On the subject of bad YouTubers, I just watched this, only because I enjoy Leno's stuff. This video sums up perfectly to me what is...
I would definitely agree with that. I can't watch people like that Shmee character. They have just read some facts from the brochure and say how brilliant everything is. I don't see what people actually get from watching it.
I haven't seen many/if any people defending him. Some have put across positive experiences, others have just commented on how something doesn't add up. If people don't want to hear all sides of a debate, then posting about it on a public forum probably isn't a good idea.
It sounds like there...
To look at this from a different angle, you could argue that any engagement from Carl on this topic or on social media could do further damage, as every prick could want to chuck in their two cents worth. Arguing with people on the internet, especially when most of them have nothing to do with...
If I have an issue with a business, I have no doubt at all that I wouldn't break into their property or assault anyone.
Like I said, perhaps I am weird. That or I'm obviously not living in a gangster movie like other people.
He could have always gone over there on a weekday when he knew he was open? I sympathise if the guy has been conned, but that doesn't excuse criminal behaviour. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Agree on the second point. I am not defending either side. Like I said earlier in the thread, there is...
There seems to be a lot of comments being made based on what people have read on Facebook, rather than those who are directly involved, i.e. the customer who is upset and the proprietor of the business, i.e. bloke.
A bit of caution is required perhaps, as there might be a lot more to this than...
There is a reason I avoid car groups on FB. I joined a couple of Fiesta ones as I have been looking at buying an ST and the stuff you read on there is unbelievable. God forbid you ask a simple question, you just seem to get lynched. Social media really does bring out the worst in people.
This...
