I thought CS were a knowledgable bunch! It's a 6.2 naturally aspirated V8 (although it's called a '63' in honour of the 1971 Spa 24 hour car IIRC), 525bhp and 450lb ft of torque (less than the SL55 but in a more accessible place in the rev range for more grunt, lower down.
Around £100,000 new...
Great photos, that Liquid Yellow Vee is absolutely stunning!
Love the roads around Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales, there's a really nice Fish & Chip shop in the middle of Hawes too, best I've ever had tbh but it shuts at like 2pm on a Saturday, stupid time to close!
Did you take on the mighty...
10-12k. Trips to Uni on most days account for a lot of it, but a good chunk of it will be down to random drives to the coast or the Yorkshire Dales. Worth it though!
I think you'll be fine doing that sort of mileage, just make sure you maintain it and I can't see a problem.
That Black Gold one looks a great buy. Have you done an insurance quote on one yet? I pay a lot for mine as I'm only young too, but I don't regret taking the plunge and getting my Trophy one bit!
Yep, I'd buy another in an instant. Hasn't put a foot wrong, it's embarrased many cars that cost three times as much, and still manages to put a smile on my face everytime I drive the thing. I plan to keep it forever, but my next Renault will be a v6 255 to join the Trophy. :D
v6 255 every single time. Stunning looking thing in any colour, fantastic noise and way, way more special than a Focus RS. The performance will be even I expect, but one's a supercar, the other is a hot hatch with a truly awful interior! ;)
Drive 'em both though, then see how you feel, but in...
SUPERCAR!
It looks brilliant. I just can't make my mind up which colour I want when I get mine. I think seeing this has swayed me to a Black Gold over an Illiad. It'll probably change again though next week! :o
Oh how I love these threads! Coilovers seem to be the answer to everything on here!
Fact of the matter is, the Trophy was designed from the off to be the best Cliosport derivative of the lot. And, still, it is. I hear people commenting on other similar threads thinking that a 1*2 with coilies...
Re: My 182, six months of ownership in words and pics
Great thread this, really enjoyed reading it! The car is looking brilliant aswell, can't beat a clean Black Gold really!
Gorgeous car, I'm a big fan of Black Gold. Are you around the Wakefield area of West Yorkshire by the way? Seems like it's the capital of the country for Renaultsport Clio's these days! See so many about!
Did I read something in this thread asking how a Trophy compares to a 1.2? Well.....
Simply, in driving terms, the best Clio that Renaultsport has ever made. I must have drove mine a thousand times now, and every single time it never fails to put a smile on my face. It's just the way...
Sell me it please! I've been in love with Bianca White S2 Rallye's for years! Would love one as a second car, so good looking. Would prefer standard lights, but it's still a gorgeous example you have.
Brilliant thread!
Car to own before I die: R34 GT-R in Bayside Blue. Mean looking things! Would love a Supra too, in black, and an RX-7 in black. Proper stealth!
Gorgeous car, so cool aswell to those who know. 240bhp these aren't they? Would love one but it is over-priced IMO, plenty of cars I'd prefer to have in its price range.
911 GT1, such a mean looking thing that! Proper weapon though, reminds me of the CLK GTR looks wise too.
Never been a fan of 959's, but that one on the photos looks great!
Gotta love Porsche!
Terrible list! Everyone knows the Trophy is the greatest! :approve:
Good to see a 106 Rallye high up though, thinking about buying one and giving it the full works.
Also, a v6 255 at number 16 was it? That is a supercar, not a hot-hatch!
I could of sworn that I have heard you say you have a 182 already?
Anyway, if I had to choose between the two, regardless of cost I'd always choose the 182 over a standard Cooper S.
£3000 to insure though is only £60 a week tops, which when you look at it that way isn't much at all. I pay a lot for the Trophy now, so i'm used to the idea of spending a lot on insurance. I'll end up waiting a year or so, but if I was the OP, i'd jump at the chance at his quoted price!
GET ONE BOUGHT!
I 100% want one before I'm 21, insurance at the minute is around the £3000 mark with just 1NCB and 3 points on the licence for me, I'm 19. Even with this quote I'd be willing to pay it though, I don't look at it as £3000 as a chunk, I break it down monthly and then weekly as it...
