So true. The Cayman R is a masterpiece. Saying that, so was the S!
Just done a little 500 word feature: http://joshtimlin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/2012-porsche-boxster-s.html
I'd love to say yes, but as I only write for a smaller publication the marque always send us pre-prepared photos when it's sunny and the car's clean!
I liked the 991, but strangely I preferred the Boxster S initially. The 991 inevitably took a lot more getting used to as you could just jump...
Had the opportunity to go down to Silverstone today and drive Porsche's new 911 and Boxster S for a media day, so I thought I'd share a few photos. The weather was a bit hit and miss, but both cars were great; the Boxster S in particular. I was a big fan of its steering, its chassis is sublime...
Interior was very nice. Its price is a tad high as lots have said but once you're sat in it, it definitely feels like a very premium car. Centre console's lovely. Way better than the Megane with regards to interior quality.
I didn't mind either! The steering wheel felt nice and although the gearknob isn't the best of shapes, it didn't particularly annoy me. The worst part of its interior design is the pointless compartment in between the front seats, as every single time I wanted second, fourth, or sixth, my elbow...
Should have pointed out that the spoiler is part of the Aero Pack, which is a £995 option. The other one's much more subtle. I read through the entire press pack and specced one up to over £33k! Madness.
Yeah, the LSD was a hugely beneficial inclusion on this car. As was the hydraulic steering.
Just completed the feature for it. It's available to read here: http://joshtimlin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/2012-astra-vxr.html
Thought this may be of interest to a few on here. I was invited to drive the new VXR around Rockingham and its surrounding areas for the UK's press launch, and I have to give credit where credit's due as I was very impressed! I hated the original Astra VXR but this was great; its handling...
Cobra buckets, Supersprint exhaust, GTi spoiler, carbon fog surrounds, and a little Sparco steering wheel. To be fair they don't need a lot doing at all as they're brilliant as standard. Can't recommend them enough! I'd have a Rallye over a GTi every day of the week.
Great cars! I absolutely adore mine. Had it just over a year and I can't see me getting rid for many years as every drive is brilliant. They're quite uncomfortable, but the chassis is great and it's a car with brilliant steering feel. There's a good feature in Evo about it this month.
Re: 2009 GT-R vs. 997 Turbo on the autobahn (JDM as f**k presenter) [repost Police G
I reckon they're also hard to compare due to their vast price differences, but then again they're pitted against each other so often, they've become natural rivals due to their similar performance. It's...
Re: 2009 GT-R vs. 997 Turbo on the autobahn (JDM as f**k presenter) [repost Police G
They're just flawless. I've been lucky enough to drive a few astonishingly fast cars in the past few months (GT2 RS and the MP4-12C most notably) but the GT-R's feel (in 2012 spec) is on another level. That...
Erm, why? The 4.0's better, faster, looks practically the same, is even more exclusive and will be remembered as the best 911 ever. There's absolutely no reason to prefer the gen II GT3 RS! If anything, the first generation 997 GT3 RS looked better thanks to its better colour schemes. The 4.0's...
Absolutely hate those alloys! Loved the original car though; its handling was on another level. As a driver's car, it was up there with the Clio Trophy, EK9, and the R26R for me, so I'll go out on a limb and say this'll be very special to drive as well.
Re: Which model Clio do you prefere and why?
If I had to live with one day-to-day? A fully specced 200. They've grown on me looks wise, and to drive they're great. So sure-footed when pushing on.
If I had to drive one on a great road? Trophy, every single time. For me, it's the epitome of a...
This I am not denying, but I did around 30k in my Trophy, and I ever so slightly preferred the 200! Undoubtedly the Trophy is absolutely formidable on a challenging road, even seven years later, but the 200's still moved the game on a little.
They're great cars. Looks brilliant in UR as well! Nice to finally see one with a proper spec; there are so many for sale that fail miserably on the spec that its original owner chose. If you're spending a few bob on a brand new car, you may as well do it properly and not be tight on the options...
In a way, I think they missed a great opportunity with it. If it had a proper manual, it'd have been absolutely great, but as with you the dim-witted gearbox ruined it for me as well. Loved the engine's character and the noise it made! Its looks have aged really well.
I echo the thoughts on...
Apparently, Lewis Hamilton's bought one. For me, it's the pinnacle. The intricacy and attention to detail is second to none, and the noise is just unreal. Imagine seeing/hearing one on the road! It kinda makes the new Huayra look a little disappointing though.
Pulsar GTi-R. Lusted after one when I was 14/15, and although the love's gone a little, I'd still jump at the chance to have a go in one. It's a car that people would laugh at though with all of its vents, but there's just something about them.
Smart Roadster Brabus. Hated its gearbox, but...
Yeah, it's had a thorough going over (as far as annual revisions usually go). Valves, inlet manifold, heads, pistons, dampers, springs, and even the gearbox has been sharpened. I drove a 2009 model not so long back and the difference is definitely noticeable; particularly low-down grunt and...
I'm lucky enough to do freelance motoring journalism when I'm not studying, so I covered this event for a newspaper I've been with for a few years. It's a great privilege to do it, particularly with driving the Juke-R as only a handful of people have had access to them. As far as hosting goes...
I think they're producing a sportier version of the Juke, but it'll be nowhere near as potent as the R! In a way, I'm glad they're not producing it in mass numbers as it'll be a true cult car in years to come as it's just so out of the ordinary. The two are fully road legal as well! Maybe if...
