Yes, you'd be very impressed! I bought a phase 2 Saxo VTR about five months ago now as a side project to run as a track toy, dropped a 16v VTS engine in, along with cams and TB's. It's stripped with buckets, it goes and sounds amazing. Best of all, it looks like a standard VTR from the outside...
Could do with a poll this! Some cracking cars, Ali's v6, Christopher's timeless RB, Guppy's 182, Middo's, Lou's flame red 172 is it (?), 7MAT's Trophy, Schweppy's old 182 Cup, that white on white 197, Brembo's old replica.....
So many to choose from. Make a poll!
Edit: And that Nimbus R27...
In my top 20 cars of all time, a Championship White EK9 would be there, I love them that much. Saw one on the Woodhead Pass the other Saturday, very rare to see them about and it looked brilliant. Given the choice between the two, I'd have an EK9 every single time. I'd even have a modded EK4...
No problem. :)
If you could stretch to a Trophy though, that'd be even better. If you're after the exclusivity of a FRP, but with extra pace it's the perfect alternative.
How does the 1.7 respond to performance mods by the way? Is 20/30bhp extra within reach without a lot of work? If it had the...
Complete rubbish. Exige? Atom? M3? Caterham's? Radical's? Need I go on? It's about driving a great car, not driving something just because it's worth a lot of money and has the 'right' badge. Which ever way you look at it, the Trophy is up there amongst the best ever for a reason; it's...
FRP's are gorgeous cars. Very big fan of them, I looked at buying one before I bought my Trophy. Only thing that lets them down is the interior. Seats are nice, but that's about it. Clio's aren't exactly like an S-Class inside are they but compared to the Puma it's in a totally different league...
Looks brilliant doesn't it! Thought it could have been something to do with Puma Speed actually, based in Wakefield aren't they. They look really well done, not too OTT either, just a proper beast! Any idea how much the kit costs? Looks like the lad with the white one spent a fortune on his.
I've seen a white Fiesta ST driving around in Wakefield with a sort of RS kit. Looks amazing, really wide and low, RS alloys, full roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses, looks a proper beast! Sounds brilliant aswell, would love to know more about it as I always see the lad driving about.
Yes, it would annihilate a Trophy through the twisties, higher cornering speed and everything else, but you'd expect that. If you're paying £150k+ for a car you'd want it to be a considerably better car in every way than a £6k Renault! But, on a typical British countryside road with an average...
I totally understand what you're saying, but on a narrow, twisty road, there isn't much that can keep up with a well driven Trophy. They're absolutely brilliant little cars, and it just goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy the thrill of driving that evo magazine claims to...
F**king horrible. Only good for scrap, how anyone can like this is beyond me! It's not cool, it looks rubbish, people will think you're a scruff; not a good look. I wouldn't drive anything like this even if someone paid me!
I would of bought an EK9 if it wasn't for the ridiculous insurance cost. Trophy to R26 cost exactly the same insurance wise, an EK9 was an extra £800-£1000 more! :S I'm 20, but that still doesn't justify a huge premium to be fair.
This thread needs more and more photos of R34 GT-R's. Saw a...
Gotta love the Trophy, a giant killer in every sense! And they are bang on with their praise for it, fantastic car. And mine goes tomorrow, it's going to be a sad, sad day seeing that go. I just can't help but think that I'm going to regret it too. :(
No need for finance or big loans, a nice steady job does the trick. I'm a student, and the only bad thing is the insurance. But it's honestly worth every penny!
Would of been better in white with the anthracite Turini's, but personally I love Capsicum Red, really really nice colour when it's shiny. Looks brilliant when the sun is on it, and when it's overcast and dull.
Only thing I wish it had was xenons.
Trophy every single time. I actually had a deposit down on a Racing Blue 182 with all the toys, then I drove my Trophy and bought that immediately. It really is that good! Never looked back, and I did nearly 30,000 miles in it, all with a stupid big grin on my face. Just hope my R26 can live up...
Bound to be though with 240bhp and bigger in size? I really like it, think the interior looks smart, if a little cramped! Looks really narrow on that photo, but love the alcantara touches on the dash! Carbon roof too? Gotta love that!
Not a fan personally, the seats are horrible looking things! Given the choice between a 172 (phase 1 or 2) and a GTi 180 their's only ever going to be one winner.
Hated 200's when I first saw the press photos but I love them now! Amazing how something can grow on you so quickly! Great plate too, it looks brilliant.
Brilliant photos and really, a very brilliant car! Perfect weapon for those sort of roads, I'd even say that their's not many cars out there that can match the pace of a well driven Trophy on narrow, twisty roads. :D
I love that! Looks proper mean from the front! I've always been tempted to take my front plate off too for some reason, but I imagine it's more trouble than it's worth with the police and what have you? Do you get pulled a lot or? Saying that, I get pulled regularly for my 3/4 plate so I may...
I did laugh!
Can you imagine how pissed off you'd be though! Coming out to see your pride and joy like that, I'd be absolutely devastated even with an insurance pay out and I'd imagine a big compensation bonus too.
They do look nice. Drove my mate's C2 VTR with minor mods and I'm not a fan of how they drive to be honest. I had a Saxo VTR as my first car and that was a brilliant car to drive, think they kind of went down hill with this as a replacement.
A phase 2 v6 every time, in any colour. They're amazing cars, they look and sound fantastic, and in the first 100 yards of driving it you know it's one special car. They aren't about out-right performance in my opinion, but a well set-up one will be a weapon as Ali says. It's about the sense of...
Pffft, if they're are going to do it right, at least get the pinnacle of the last generation to compete - the Trophy of course and not the runt of the litter! ;)
Should be good though, it's quite a short and twisty circuit that they use isn't it so it'll be good to see the difference a few...
