That 5 on Collecting Cars is lush, wonder what it will end up selling for...
I bought mine when they were still affordable, thankfully!
I might stick my name down on a 5 E, just not sure yet, I'm not a fan of electric cars at all :ROFLMAO:
Definitely have my eye on the R5 E for 2024... I hope it looks as good in person as it does on the pics!
I see Alpine released a couple concept images on their version of it a few days ago?
We parked it in the garage during the end of 2017, and started stripping it all down ready for it going to the body shop.
I also had the engine taken out which was being shipped up to Mark Galvin for a full engine rebuild.
Any pics of it mate? Would love to see it!
I agree, but I'm thankful there's not many electrics on these older Renaults, which makes fixing stuff a little less daunting :ROFLMAO:
After I had the wheels refurbished and buying a nice private reg for it, I had it on the road for a further 2-3 months, before taking it off and stripping it in the garage!
I had full intentions of just getting the shell re-painted... things didn't go to plan, as you'll find out why in the next...
Apart from the grille, I also managed to find a nice set of Renault Clio Williams wheels, which I ran for a few weeks before getting them fully refurbished at Cwmbran Wheel Specialist.
Fair to say that they did an outstanding job! It really made the car look 10x better
It ran okay for the 6 months or so that it was on the road, even though the body work was a bit tatty... it definitely got some great attention!
I managed to find a nicer grille for it too
Here's some pics from the time I had it on the road...
Thought I'd make a little thread documenting the progress of my R5 GTT, which I'm working on alongside my Clio 182
Quick run down:
Bought it in 2017 for my 19th bday present to myself, picked it up from a chap called Andy located in the Duxford area.
I knew it needed some TLC with the body...
The moment it started for the first time in a while
Just need to re-seal the ECU casing now, stick some new tyres on, and do the tracking.
Should be ready to hit the road again very soon!
Just a little update...
Not long after getting the alternator changed, the engine lost compression :( This engine from the donor car was on around 140k, sothere's no surprise!
I parked the car up for a long while and purchased an RB182, which I regrettably sold around summer time 2022...
Thanks @DavidDave for reminding me to stick this into the 'Projects' section ;)
I bought this little RB back in July 2021, after wanting one in this colour for so long, especially with factory comp stripes!
I purchased it off a good mate of mine who wanted rid after not using it as much as he...
Haha, you’re more than welcome anytime bud.
We’re all a few minutes down the road from each other then it seems, and it’s great to see another RB in Newport!
Keep in touch mate 👍🏽👍🏽
That’s awesome mate! If you need a hand at all let me know. More than happy to help.
Also, if you need a local garage to do any major work to I would recommend TJ Auto Mech in Leeway industrial estate. Good mate of mine and knows the clios inside out 😁👍🏽
Me and a group of the lads went for a spin to Elan Valley today, hit some lovely driving roads.
The weather held off perfectly if you ignore the salty roads and the almost freezing temperatures ;)
As always, never missed a beat. Hopefully don't jinx myself by saying that now! o_O
