no your right if you use the "box section" or chassis rail its called :rasp: it wouldnt but when your half way through a qualifing sesion and you need to swap the wheels front to back as quick as you can you dnt want to be faffing around under car trying to find the rail.
my nobbles lol (sounds naughty) they were from the same car i got the strut off but i cld of used some of any car cos once id gt them off i made my own bracket for the lower nobble out of some shelving lol
the only problem with that mite be if you do it electricly to release the catch there is always the chance of it failing and then a bit of a smash but then again we all know that the mechanical ones do this too
ive used one from a mk 1 clio boot lid, only using one holds the bonnet up fine and will aid in the lifting off it if you used two it will prob lift the bonnet for you.
