I haven't weighed it for a while (after removing some more stuff) but i would guess around 950kg now. Engine wise its just had cams and a DIY intake. Pops come from the ignition r****d. :)
The fact the gearbox and clutch has blown up isn't what is annoying me the most, its the timing! My clio coughed up a £500 bill (alternator & belts) and 2 days later my MX5 had a £420 bill for cambelt, service and belts. Both cars had tax due at the same time so decided to stick tax on the clio...
Finally got the car on the road again after being off for a month, only to have the clutch fail on wednesday and take the gearbox with it. Gutted, but not the end. Plans are for a lightened flywheel and perhaps a stage 1 paddle clutch (so its not a complete pig on the road). Couple of pics...
Also is there any difference between the 1*2 ph1/ph2 gearbox's in regards to the bell housing? For example could i buy a scrap gearbox from any 172/182 and nick the bell housing from it?
Also providing the flywheel is ok, and the gearbox its self isn't damaged, what else could need replacing...
Lots of outside photos in here, thought i would wack up an inside shot. Just need to spray the inside and put the rear door cards on and im finished i think!
My comment was pretty much based on me thinking a standard 172 couldn't go around brands in 59s, regardless of driver. Interested to see the video, it must of been one hell of a lap.
Don't cup cars go around brands in 58/59s?
It's getting some maintenance and parts replaced as we speak :)
The alternator died a few weeks ago, so a brand new replacement is going in. I've also fitted the PMS gear linkage and shifter (finally). Gonna rotate the tyres, stick some new pads in and give it a minor service ready for brands...
Just about to order a new alternator but unsure what size pulley to get or what amp? From what i can tell i need a A13VI300 110A? I'm also getting confused what make to get, the prices seem to vary by quite a massive amount. Best place to order one from please?
Why even bother?! They are fake/counterfeit. You are going to buy them for £11.98, wait for them to arrive, and then open a ebay claim for £11.98 because they are ****. :headno:
If these are anything like the quality of the ones i got sent, they WILL fail and you will end up losing a...
What?!
The locking bar holes are not lined up/straight
The locking mech is extremely poor quality
The locking bar does not even fit through the sideways mount
The mechanism locking pins are open meaning the whole thing could just fall apart.
I just bought some aerocatches off ebay that were being advertised as genuine. When they arrived they were quite obviously fake (and i've since won the ebay claim etc). If they are the same they are absolutely horrendous quality and i would not feel comfortable using them on any part of a car...
