Ok so after cadwell yesterday I found that I never needed 5th as when I changed up into it I wasn't pulling as well as 4th as I dropped off the power. What would be the fix? Shorter 5th gear set or leave the ratios and change the final drive to shorten all the gears ? Been talking to northloop...
Ok so put my new sparco seat in and got it all adjusted up nicely in position with steering wheel right infront of me...but... very awkward to get in and out now as no room to manoeuvre getting in and out. Which makes are recommended as I don't want the bloody wheel to come off mid corner...
I have been having a look and on eBay you can get a pair already reconed for £170 with £50 surcharge back when you send your old ones to them. £120 doesn't seem to bad?
Yea rattle can Andy job that lol. Paint shrinks when it's fully cured and aerosols are the works it's just reactions within the 1pack paint. Plus like rally said fibreglass doesn't act like plastic it expand and contracts with heat. Stipped back primered and painted with proper 2k paint will...
Tried to upload the picture but I don't know how to do it. Powerflex bolts were 12mm on the cam lobe bit and eibach ones are 14mm on the cam lobe bit thus explaining why they were slipping under high load. Im surprised they didn't snap to be honest!!!
That's good to know. I'll use that setting when they turn up.
Bought a Gunsen camber setter aswell so if I do need to reset cambers in the pits I will have a decent reading
Ok use kerbs aswell and they were fine there just high speed corners they jumped. Was a croft when they did it thought I had snapped a ball joint to start with as it was at full positive camber and steering was al over the place!
That nut shouldn't have stripped. Is 120nm the correct setting?
I'll have a check at the weekend just ordered a gunsen camber tool so can check and change camber at the track I'll have ago and hit some corners hard See what happens
Think ill buy some 14mm eibach ones. They look like they are high tensile steel instead of the powerflex electroplated ones which are probably just mild steel
Ok so fitted the bolts and had it tracked up with 1.5° of neg camber. On track under hard cornering they jumped out of camber and had to go back the the pits to see what the problem was. No matter how tight I made them they still slipped out of camber. Has anybody else experienced this and am I...
Well it's obvious from your work you are top of your game and your job with F1 just proves it.
It's nice to be part of something special like F1 but if its taking over your life and affecting your own ambitions then maybe not worth it.
Iv put it in my phone diary for blyton, nice twists to...
Iv just taken 3 hours reading this full thread!
You sir are a very talented engineer, all of your work is immaculately executed.
You should think about opening your own motorsport build garage. You wouldn't be shy of work.
Any new updates to add?
When you go for testing/shake down would love to...
Yea thanks just got it all finished now.
Put in an isolator switch to a 70amp relay then the switch on to the first position and bridged the live from the relay out straight onto the live fan wire. Works like a dream.
2 in line fuses a 30amp between the relay and Fan and a 5amp between the...
Hi guys!
Looking for a little tech advice. Bought a 172 cup already stripped and "preped" for track use as they called it but currently have no working windscreen fan. Then standard fan is still in place under the scuttle panel but all the heater matrix and control switches are long gone.
I'm...
Northloop I have just taken my box out as 2nd and 3rd gears are crunching on the synchro and it whines in 5th aswell.
What sort of price am I looking at to rebuild?
It's jc5-129 which I'm guessing has the circlip diff.
