Race? Ive been at a few tracks and pushed my foot on the go pedal, until I bottle it. So wouldn't call it race as such, but love pedal to metal. Lydden is £105 this Saturday for a full day- but I would go Novice.
Car not really ready, done a few things. Still got gearbox oil to do, and maybe...
Welcome. Just got one myself 6 weeks ago. Try get one with dephaser and belts done as its costly (£600 ish all round)
Starting seems an issue for some, so hear it running.
Oil leaks (Bit of cardboard under engine) coolant leaks etc etc
Make sure all hinges OK, and paintwork seems to go on them...
My back up plan is to get the RAC out if need be. Got the all singing/ dancing any car, any place plus home cover and trailer home etc etc. Thought better splash out the £100 if getting on old warhorse
Not sure they will tow me away from the track circuit tho.....:tonguewink:
Have you tried bumping it, or not risking where it ends up?
My red light blinks every second when key isnt in ignition, even when i open door and sit in seat
Key in ignition and all the lights go on switching to position 1. Some of them go off but no blinking
It then does not start blinking...
Not stripping mine out yet, but have thought about the rear seats maybe
Gonna see how i go early next year, but already looking at basic bucket seats and rear roll cage :-)
Changed brake fluid to DOT 5.1 yestday, gearbox ELF NFJ oil next
I took my battery leads off and cleaned terminal of battery and lugs at end of cables with wire wool and a file
Be careful not to short out the positive battery terminals to an earth- you'll get a flash n sparks and a surprise...
I tried an alternative earth- didnt do any good for me.
2nd gear...
Have you tried bump starting it. Thought mine was the battery recently, but couldnt even jump start it from another 2.0 motor (Strange)
Bump started OK tho. Seemed to get better on its own, as i thought starter motor, but was at least getting a click from solenoid.
Try a bump to turn the engine...
Hi All- Lydden Hill, reduced for a full track day sesh's on Saturday 10th December. Was £165, now £105. Sign on 7.30am , but is small track
Dont think its open pit lane, think its 8 x 20 min seshs for novice, intermediate and Advanced
Anyone else fancy it?
Bit early for my 172 as still a few...
Doesnt work. However much shoe polish you rub off, guaranteed if you wear light clothing somethings is always left on the clothing
Dye is best, as it dries permanent
Quite happy to be proven wrong- and hope I am:blush:
Hi Karlos. Welcome to the Club- I'm Hove. Got my 172 a month back.
Did you get that one in Kendal? Was watching that one, pretty similar to mine.
Track for me too- Brands, Silverstone, Thruxton possibly, Combe and Lydden amongst others
Newb to it all tho. Have to team up and go to Brands...
Got over the starting issue, reckon it had been standing for a few days without being started
How much does replacing the dephaser cost nowadays- lots threads about it, but most go back 1 or 2 years?
Mine had £300 worth of cambelt changes 7k miles ago...... still got the receipt. why the heck...
Yep- got to sort this with mine. Good thread, lots different ways, hopefully just a squirt with WD sort mine
Doubt it- got a new cable anyway...
Happy days
Had the o/s driveshaft done today, getting rid of the ABS kicking in at low speed
Fab
Bit pricier than i first thought, but not as pricey as when he called me with the diagnosis
Accelerator cable to do (Do that myself for sure) soon, then thats about it till first track session, to see whats...
Holy thread revival
Have 1 set of wheels (Oz F1s) which i am painting black on Silver Clio, and thinking Royal Blue maybe metallic/pearl or even glitter on the other set..... to match full decal set
More recent shots of mine- headlamsp need more work, its as if the discolouration is on the inside
Being real honest, it looks better in the photos ha-ha!
Inside:
Looking loads better... interested in seeing how you deal with the bubbling paintwork issues as I have similar in several areas
And the small scratches and dents.
