My engine bay really needs a good clean as the engine had an oil leak and is covered in general grime and dirt. What would be the best way to clean the whole bay and engine?
Cheers for the comment. Tbh I don't like the filter but it will do till the ph1 air box arrives. I'm going to relocate the battery and ecu so will have plenty of room for the air box and the caf's :)
Also decided to tidy up the wiring loom and hide the no longer needed air con wires and carbon canister wiring. Will end up going standalone once I've decided which route to go for power
Ha ha, I'd rather lose the 5bhp than have filth on my car!
As for Epas, just got to fit the rack this weekend, joys of this car being a daily driver, can't afford to keep it off the road!
Cheers, still a long way to go to were I want it but it's a start! As for cambelt, a friend who is a Renault mechanic did it, he knows his stuff and did it at a very good price!
Mid week updat, got bored at work so got my spare grilles and prepped and painted them satin black looks so much better and looking fo ward to fitting them tomorrow!
Final post from this weekends work, I decided to start the epas conversion, fitted the steering column and started the wiring, got a diesel rack and fitted all new inner track arms and track rod ends, even managed to blow all the fuses in the engine bay due to putting a screw through the wiring...
Also decided to get rid of the Chevy black Renault diamonds and replace them with standard ones, it's the little things that make such a difference! Also removed the vile sticker from the rear window, why would anybody put s**t like this on there car lol
FSo another weekend and another two days of working and swearing at the car! Fitted new wishbones as the ball joints were lets just say, very tired, also fitted my polybushes to the arb. Even tho it needs a geo badly, it feels so tight!
Ok so been working on the car today changing the steering column and managed to catch the positive to the indicator stalk against the dash frame ( some cowboy had badly spliced into the posture for a sound system), since that, the car won't start, no stereo, horn, central locking etc. Tracked...
I got the rear carpet from a member on here, think you can get them one eBay tho. As for the shifter, I'm waiting on some bits from Yanoo and to finish a custom sleeve before I fit it.
After sorting suspension out, decided to remove rear bench and fit carpet, looks so much better. Also removed all the poorly wired sound system cables, can't believe how much of it there was!
So another weekend which meant Clio time ( misses hates me ) and this week had the task of finding out why it handled so badly on the front, well I found it........! Yep the shock had dumped oil of its fluid out! Fortunately I had a set of coilovers on my flamer that I'm breaking, so swapped...
Ok so in the process of doing the Epas set up, issue I have is its my daily car and don't get much time to work on it.
So can I fit and wire up the column, ecu and eBay knob thingy, whilst keeping the standard pas until I get time to remove the old set up?
So finally got the cambelt and dephaser on today. Started the job to be greeted by this! The engine has had a full head rebuild in the past and they managed to mess the cam seals up and got the timing all wrong!!! After a lot of cleaning, fitting new defused and timing it up correctly, the car...
So finally after 3 weeks of owning the car, I finally did the cambelt and dephaser today! Despite having had a full head rebuild in the past, some monkey had screwed the cam seals up got the timing wrong! Car drives so much better now!
