Ooo I got spotted. That was me, me and the Mrs brought the car out for a bit of a drive as I was co driving yesterday in the white nova car no.48. I thought it might get a bit of attention parked there. Was nice to have it out of the garage and in the sun, a great colour when the sun hits it...
Finally managed to get my induction kit fitted today, really pleased with the end result and the cost overall. The itg maxogen air chamber and filter was from a cupra r that I got cheap and re powedercoated and the silicone intake and breather pipe from a local hose company. Overall cost was £80...
Cheers matey, it was a really nice example, took me 5 years on and off to get it that stage, even better now a good friend has it, would love to buy it back one day. Engine wise it was just the usual ie raceland manifold, itg maxogen induction kit along with a decat pugsport 2'' system. Would love...
Ah brilliant choice, I have a mega soft spot for 106's, such a fun little car that is of surprises and smiles, a very capable car on track to.
I have a 172 cup now but before it I had a really tidy 106 xsi that I built into a fast road/track car...I miss it no end. One of friends has got it...
Thanks, I'm trying my hardest with it, been a while since I went into so much detail on a car, last one I did like this was my racing puma. Yeah that's not to far away, I'm sure we will catch a glimpse of each others cars one day ;)
p
Nothing much to really update this thread at the min, done a bit more tidying underneath and freshened up the oe exhaust with a touch of high temp paint to keep it looking factory fresh...one day I will put a stainless system on it. Apart from that nothing much to report. A few snaps I took...
I'm partly halfway through doing an underneath restoration/tidy up on my cup. I also used to be on th ford scene with a racing puma and just got that upto concours standard when I unfortunately had to sell.
Im looking at sorting the rear beam next, thinking of buying a second hand one and...
That sounds like a plan, I would have done that but luckily the car has been under sealed before I took ownership so I just did a lot of masking and got spraying...it didnt take much paint to get a good finish.
Hehe it is more of a mantelpiece than a car lol, it's not going to see much use this...
Cheers mate, yeah the heat shield has come up really well with a bit of paint and a clean up, bit of an arse to mask bits up but worth it in the end. The calipers hadn't done much work so I just cleaned them up and had them shotblasted and powdercoated.
Managed to spend some more time on the car lately...
First of all I've its had a small service with the usual elf oil etc
Saw a cheap itg maxogen filter on the net,it was off a Leon cupra but ive modified it slightly to fit the clio, just waiting on the induction pipe to be made and then I...
How strange is that, some people are seeing upside down and others the right way up...hmmm. Thanks for the comments though, will get a pic up of the bay when I get the itg maxogen fitted and a few other brackets etc back from the powder coaters ;)
Here's mine as it currently stands. Standard 172 cup lump apart from mangnecor leads...itg maxogen on its way;) Apart from that it will just be a very clean factory finish look...
Have been busy over the last couple of weeks taking some parts off the car to get to my local powder coaters for some loving.
I got the parts back this week and I'm really pleased with how they have come out. The parts I gave them were the inlet manifold, cambelt cover, fuel rail guard and also...
Fantastic work mate, great to see a cup getting the love it deserves. Admire people like yourself transforming a run down car into an eventual show and shine candidate. looks like your into your cup as much as I am into mine, must admit I do find myself detailing the car as much as anything else...
thanks mate. I loved that puma, a great car that I regret selling, I went to buy it back but it was ruined so I left a bit gutted.
I must admit I do feel rather lucky that I have got such a nice example of a cup and that Its just a second car that me and the mrs can enjoy on a nice day. To be...
Put one of the new vinyl decals I had made up on today, looks great for what it cost and will hopefully last a lot better than the oe Renault items that are really fiddly to apply. This one is slightly larger to so stands out a bit more...
Also fitted a new rear number light lense as the...
I think your slightly right but I class the 172 cup as classic Renault hot hatch along with the Williams, a normal 172 is boring to me along with 182 unless its a trophy...
Yeah he's a great chap and very talented, I'm lucky that I only live a minute from his unit and so I often pop down and have a cuppa and drool over his work...
