How far would the standard airbox go with a HComp engine and 421 cams and a flowed head, would somthing like the K-Tec kit work better for this?
Regards Russ........
As Phil has said TBH
I used Dan at 519 for my belts as it's worth getting someone who knows what they are doing and has the correct tools, just to say it was worth the trip for me and I live in Manchester, I don't know how close he is to you, but would be worth a call, see his traders section!
Sorry to here that, but it does sound like the belts may have gone or jumped, I'd go on the traders section and have a look who's nearest to you, I think Mick at Diamond Motors travels to do repairs but don't quote me on that.
Regards Russ..........
Hello Colin, that was a long weekend for you,
You were going well at Aintree, sorry I couldn't stay till the end just got to cold.
Well done at Olivers Mount that looked a great run in those conditions for a first visit.
Regards Russ.......
Should see you Saturday Colin, looks like you'll have a good day, I'll bring my overalls and lid just incase there's a chance of a double drive lol.
Will you be in the same car John as every time I see you it's changed, the Trophy looked nice at 3 Sisters,
regards Russ.............
I'd go for the AD08's on 15's , I will be running these when the T1R's are down to the limit, I'm currently running the stock 16" Turinis with T1R's on and TBH don't have any problems with them, best way to find out is run 16's with the T1R and then the 15's if you don't like the way they feel...
205 and Green Mk11 would do me, but that's one amazing collection from an amazing driver who's done it all, but the num plate on the Escort did make me lol.
Regards Russ.........
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Good luck with it all the car does look great, and well done on the ARDS test, I think you had all the gremlins at Anglesey buy the sounds of things, fingers crossed, hope to see you run at Harewood if you do...
Have you checked the spring heights when off the car, are they the same length and when you lower the weight onto the springs are they the same length, is the spacing between the coils the same when loaded and unloaded, just some things to check.
Regards Russ........
Again some great in car, enjoyed watching all 3 of the stages, as you said that 3rd one was fast what do you top out at 120mph , does your co driver call the notes via an intercom probably a stupid question but I couldn't tell?
Regards Russ.............
Would it be possible to cut the top part of the plenum off, the section with the Renault Sport logo cast into it as it looks like a flat plate, this would then give you access to the ports for machining the full runner on both sides, then you could make a 6mm ali plate and bolt it back on with a...
Yes, I did the above and then lowered the car back onto it's wheels 1st, the only bolts I tightenend were the bolts on the shock to link bar angle, then I psositioned the the ARB as far away from the floor on it's soft and setting secured all the locking nuts, then tightened the rest down as...
Get everything set up loose and adjust the drop links both to the same length, tighten up the drop links first, then you can finaly tighten up the U shaped studs that hold the ARB to the rear beam.
Pre-load will happen if you do the above in reverse as you have the U bolts clamped up first when...
Did'nt someone mention this a few months back, if you buy longer set screw bolts you can compress them easier than the OE itmes, I think 40mm or 50mm long I'm not sure.
Regards Russ..............
Yes, most after market systems will fit from the cat back, the OE systems do rust and then start to blow at the joints, depends on the condition of exhaust mounts etc, the cat should be fine if it's passed an MOT, may be worth buying a a genuine cat - manifold gasket/bolt kit and then do a...
Standard 172 Cup
162 bhp 148ft/lb torque.
standard map/standard inlets/ paper air filter.
BTB system gained 2hp at the top.
All done at RS tuning's RR in Leeds 31/01/11.
Regards Russ............
This,^^^^^ I'm running the B14's set up with OE top mounts, loose the OMP strut brace, I'd be running Pure kit but the regs in the rd going class don't let us.
Regards Russ...
Dan that's changed in this years MSA Blue book, it states acceptable at 45 deg which seems strange, the other states preferred angle, that's on page 180 K 2.1 Competitors safety.
Regards Russ........
Bilstein B14 coilovers with standard top mounts, whiteline rear ARB, full pollybushed bottom arms, great on the rd and enough for the sprint/hillclimbs and the odd track day, still running turini 16" wheels on Toyo T1R.
Regards Russ.........
I'd say no if you can keep it all looking standard then your better off.
The problem seems to be the angle the TB's come off the head this pushes them up to the bonnet, would it not be possible to fit a tapered cnc'd plate against the head to angle the TB's under the slam panel along with a...
Yes sorry Dan will go and put the details on your traders site, just to say they stop the car on a sixpence no problem from cold;)
Regards Russ..............
For a sprint/ hill climb car I use Mintex M115 front and standard on the rear, your best sticking with standard discs as these are more than anough for a sprint car, your just adding to the unsprung weight of the suspension, I've never bothered with big brakes on a sprint/hillclimbcar tbh...
If the stud holes go through the spacer you could get 2 high tensile set screws and use them as a press to push the spacer off, if not put 2 studs back in and get a thick piece of flat to pick up the 2 studs and drill and tap out the middle of the flat to align with the hub nut and try and use...
As stated above Dan knows his stuff, if someone had used a crowbar on my car to check the belt tension problem I would'nt be going back.
Regards Russ......
