Both me and Colin(shiftspark) have driven this car and it does go well, this was 2 up and with 2 spare wheels on board, again as I've said John don't give it away, a very nice example of a well looked after Trophy.
Regards Russ.....
I'd buy a good 2nd hand box and then have it rebuilt keep the old box as a back up, 2nd and 3rd started to crunch on mine this was at 48,000, that was after running at 3 events.
Regards Russ........
Just to let you know that the spring clip that holds the bearing in is a b*****d to get out, I asked the lads at Bearing Mart who we use at work, he said they grind a small slot in the hub carrier to release the clip, and replace with a Circlip, there may be a specialist tool for the OE clip but...
Answered your own question there, if you can get 10bhp from induction mods I'd like to see that, find some friendly Rollers before and after.
I'm having cams fitted while the belts are being done on an F4R, be lucky to see 12-15bhp max and that's retaining the stock inlet and K&N panel filter...
Leave it standard, full refresh will make it feel like a new car ARB, bottom arms, steering rack the only place I'd poly bush is the gear box dog bone link, engine mounts standard as well if you need them.
Regards Russ.......
Thanks for that, seems to be 2 schools of thought on this then between Traders, I asked the question as mine are 3 years old but the timing needed adjustment for a certain mod and was told it was a risk! and would have to pay for new belts :S I'll leave it at that.
Sorry to the OP for clogging...
If the timing's out don't you need new belts? I thought you couldn't adjust unless the belts are nearly new, genuine question as I'm now confused.
Regards Russ..........
Mine cuts out at full lock on idle and I've got a cable throttle, I've put it down to the PAS pump as it has run low on oil at one point due to a bad leak.
I'll be getting a 2nd hand pump fitted when belts are done to see if it helps, as you've tried all the other suggestions it may be the next...
Hello John,
Pads are a hard thing to recommend as everyone has a differing view, I think your best buying and trying sometimes as you'll never really know, can be costly but at least you know what works for you, a lot of people rate the DS3000
Regards Russ.....
If your running in class 3B and not 1B and are in Mod Prod then you can use any tyre in list 1B page 196-198 in the MSA Blue Book, this includes slicks as long as it's log booked.
Regards Russ..........
Strange one, the only thing I can think of is heat from a binding calliper but unlikely or possibly the way he's driving, still sounds like someone is having a joke at his expense to me, where does he park at work, has he tried taking the wheel off and looking for a leak in the inner/outer side...
This^^^^^ or some one is having a joke and letting that side down slowly, try turning the car around the other way to confirm when parked.
Regards Russ.....
Ah that's ok then, it's to go on the 172 Cup which is Phase 2 inlets, just looking to replace the top plenum as I've got the phase 1 cable TB., already converted from Drive By Wire, thanks for that.
Regards Russ.....
Not sure on stock management never bothered with it, I've got a standalone ECU and BTB exhaust with a 182 cat fitted, along with " matched inlets " k&N panel filter in stock air box,
163BHP standard and currently 175BHP. Don't expect much as stated.
Regards Russ.........
Just as a quick reference have a look under the bonnet near the bonnet catch, I couldn't find my paperwork for belts and there was a sticker inside with the date and mileage showing full belts change Renault, not seen this before but still had them changed for piece of mind.
Regards Russ......
As said it will just kill them quicker, they won't be designed for any form of lubrication, just noticed these have been allowed in the regs at last for our class in sprints:p these will be on my shopping very soon once confirmed along with strut brace.
Regards Russ.....
Oh no it's not, as imprezaworks has said it's Grinspeed in Preston, I spoke to them but didn't get down there, just couldn't remember their name.
Regards Russ....
I purchased a Phase 1 TB today and measured the inlet side and outlet side, Inlet 64mm round. Outlet is 63mm across the Horizontal centre, and 60mm across the Vertical centre so it Oval shaped on the back side, is this difference to make up for the spindle and throttle plate to keep flow even...
Blink Motorsport, Unit 3, Winsford, Cheshire, tel 01606 212326.
Not cheap but they know what they're doing.
There is a good company who work on Hondas in Preston but can't think of the name, you'll have to do a search.
Regards Russ...
As MG cup said there is probably a torque setting but another 1/2 turn once they are fully tightened, run it for a week then go back over them that's what I did with another 1/4 turn and they should be ok.
Regards Russ...
Cheers, I've seen these I may look at a set when I get the rear beam done looking for a 182 with the thicker stub axles and I think they are wider track and stiffer than the 172 beams.
Regards Russ............
What you need to make sure you do is tighten the U bolt nuts up evenly on each side, half turn a side until you've got them tight enough.
