Pikes Peak Hillclimb, Loeb listed as Rookie ???

Typical American arrogance, it may be his 1st visit to the venue but to list a multiple WRC Rally champion as a " Rookie:S " to me is an insult, Looking at his testing and times against last years unlimited champion he's already 20 seconds quicker in the 2 lower sections and it's all tarmac to...

Bilstein B14 - long term experiences?

He worked it out from the numbers on the spring, he said theres a calc for coil wire width against number of coils and pulled up a spread sheet to show how many mm the coil moves for a given width from memory, I just said ok, I didn't take much notice and I could be wrong with the rate but I'm...

Bilstein B14 - long term experiences?

Sorry Udi I should have said the Understeer has gone in the lower speed bends since the ride height and geo set up has been done. They have been on the car since June 2011 and do about 2-3000 road miles and the rest is driven hard at Sprint/hillclimbs. If I can suggest just refresh the standard...

Bilstein B14 - long term experiences?

I've got these fitted and did say they are to soft for track work, but mine were set to low initially as I'd asked for 10mm lower than stock, they were lower still by about 30-40mm which was the heights suggested by Bilstein according to the lad who fitted them for me. I've since had the car...

    Stealth exhaust

I've got the BTB with 182 Cat mod, had it on the car for 3 years and it still looks new, no problems from it what so ever with the Prima Racing exhaust hanger and poly mid hanger which dan 519 fitted this year after the OE one failed. Regards Russ............

    RARB Fitment

Looks fine to me, you've got that on it's stiffest setting so be careful when you first turn in or lift off mid corner in the wet!! maybe turn the angle bracket on the shock a little so it sits level on the near side, but see how it looks on the ground with wheels on. Regards Russ.........

    EPAS on 172 Cup

Currently running fine on my car fingers crossed, life saver for £30-00. Just a note on the Bilsteins, yes as I quoted a little soft but tbh get the geo set up correct and run not far off standard ride height and you'll change your mind!I have but would still like a the springs a little stiffer...

MOT Failure: Sabelt steering wheel (Drivers airbag missing)

Think I'll be calling at the garage tomorrow to find out where I stand with all this, mine is a rd going competition car for sprint/hillclimb and is insured as that and is only used for competing at events and driving there, I don't do many track days if any atm. Regards Russ.....

    Gripper diff oil

Looks like you correct, should have gone and had a look on their site for myself possibly chinese wispers, they do a fully Synthetic XFS 80W/140 for £18-82 incl VAT for 1 litre so you'd need 4 as the box takes just over 3 litres + top up, the mineral based stuff is less, may give them a call...

MOT Failure: Sabelt steering wheel (Drivers airbag missing)

Is that plate diff only or is an ATB diff type not a problem as some cars come with them fitted Honda S2000 and Import Tegs, I had a Quaife fitted to the 205 and it passed MOT's ok, I wonder if they turned a blind eye;), think I'll ask before going to the trouble of changing things.

    Gripper diff oil

You can use the Morris oil but it's about £90-00 for 3 litres from what I was told, I'm using the castrol B373 as well and changing every 6 months, I've done about 1000 rd miles and the rest at events and the Diff and box have been fine I'll be dropping the oil this month to see what swarf is in...

MOT Failure: Sabelt steering wheel (Drivers airbag missing)

I'm in the middle of this, the car is used only for competition and driven to events, I don't run a cage as it's not required just a recommendation in rd going, currently using a CG lap belt lock and standard seat but changing to competition seat and harness next year, I think I'll be keeping my...

    Electric to cable throttle conversion?

I've had the 172 Cup converted to cable throttle and you'll need a stand alone ECU, if it's just for the above reason then as Mick has said tbh not worth it get a PHase 1, mines been done ready for mods in the future a the car is used for sprinting as a road going car. Regards Russ......

    Power steering help

Have you checked the steering PAS resevoir has fluid in it, if it's full to the Max level line and no leaks then could be the PAS pump or a sensor, you'd need to ask one of the traders about that. Regards Russ......

*I've already searched* What connections/wires do I put Maplin resistors into ?

I assume they use a voltage comparator similar to what we use in the Lift industry to monitor open and closed circuit within a range on Motors, ref thermistors are 1.8k- 2.6k I'll be doing this after this season finishes Dan as they weigh quite a lot but I'm looking to get hold of 2 old...

    Arch liner catching

I used a big Birmingham screwdriver and mine clear fine now;) I cut the bits off the arch liner that were damaged and used duct tape to re-seal any holes, a bit rough but it's under the arch and you can't see anything now the crap back under there, I'm running 205x45 ADO8's on a standard Cup...

    PAS rack pipe

Cheers lads that's handy to know Dan. I'll take the old set up into the Hydraulics place we use and ask him to calc the internal diameter required, the only draw back with full flexi is you'll get a liittle more expansion on it under prssure so a little pressure drop would be expected. What...

    PAS rack pipe

Just wondering why the PAS rack high prssure pipe is designed as it is? solid pipe and 2 pieces of flexi hose, is there a reason for this, ie a pressure difference on the system or are the flexi pieces just for the links between the engine and bodywork for vibration, I was wondering why you...
