It looks like Mallory Park is having problems with noise, I read this on one of the sprint/hillclimb forums is anyone else aware of this?:dapprove:
Regards Russ..........
Do you have the solid engine mounts as well or the OE units? as I'm wondering if you fit just dogbone bushes that this will take a lot more load causing the wear you can see due to the twisting force the engine puts on the mounts, that is worrying as I thought they should out last OE stuff as...
It probably is that easy, but it's a lot easier to just say fit new and charge the customer, all industries are going this way unfortunatly as it seems the skill required gets lost.
At the end of the day I don't blame him for going about it this way, but he's got it to a condition he can keep on top of and knows is done correctly, which in fareness he should have had in the 1ST PLACE, any failures are down to components or him after that.

Dan bolted 1 on mine and the engine is stock, he did it in front of me in about 10mins, and re run the car made 6bhp higher up with a dip in torque/hp lower down, couldn't say if you'd notice it but that's what it made, the graph is there for all to see.

I don't know if this helps but we use hydraulic buffers in the lift industry for lifts traveling at over 1meter per second, the buffer is a fail safe point to bring the lift car fully loaded to a controlled stop for it's rated speed, the oil is used to absorb the landing shock and stop the lift...
Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco
Just to add to this the pads are a great addition, been on 3 years plenty left on them and never had any fade, a little lock up and flat spot tyres when you let your mate have a drive hey Colin,;) this includes driving to events as well, will let Dan know how they...
Thanks for that,I applied a very mall amount and used a clean Micro Fibre cloth to clean off and it looks like new, I'll ignor the 2 :clown: comments above;)
Regards Russ.............
Yes, I was'nt sure what the sleave was made of tbh, looking at the new kit I thought it had a shoulder as well to stop movement along with 2 washers that go in between the arms and subframe mounting point, I honestly did'nt look to closely as Dan was fitting them, just looking at the mangled...
Just used their products to clean the 172 Cup uphostery, Total 2, and Auto Revive trim dressing.
All I can say is they have left the interior of the car looking refreshed and very good indeed, I've used the trim revive on the external plastic as well not sure if you can but it's worked a treat...
Just for ref don't get the old syle! the new bush is Black with zinc plated metal bushing and are none weld, the metal parts are a much thicker material, not like the old weld in pieces made from 1mm stainless steel.
Regards Russ......
I'd clean it 1st and see what those 2 spots are like just put a steel rule against them, it may be nothing as the flywheel looks fine just needs a clean, only you can see tbh hard to tell from photos.
Regards Russ......
It looks like it's got a couple of hot spots generated on it, clean it 1st and put a flat machine edge across the contact area for the clutch plate and get the feeler gauges out to check for any run out, may need a surface grind if theres to much run out, don't know what the tolerances would be...
Just to say the car doe's look awesome.
The attention to detail is a credit to James and with respect to stripping the car back I think he's made the correct decision, enjoyed the Pizza! and James forgot the other half of it lol, will it post?
As he's said look foreward to when he starts this...
Just reading all this and found it interesting, would I need a stress ecg to get a Race Licence, I've just had my 5 year medical which I passed no problem, 1st time was free and this time £100-00:eek:, but I do have a declared heart condition with the MSA and I'm 53, currently no problems with...
The only other things I could think of are this is some kind of faulty connection on the dash or possibly an earth problem, maybe an inductive pick up problem on the cables , did you remove the connector on the ECU loom to fit the subframe, or possibly moved a cable close to ignition cables or...
Hello Ian
With this type of catch tank and return to sump do you fit baffles and some kind of filter to alow the crap in the oil to stay in the bottom of the catch tank, also do you top the catch tank up to the return oil feed level to keep the oil level correct in the engine, or is none of...
Possibly clutch slip or a faulty speedo sensor, do you have the cup box or are you on abs pick up for speedo, maybe an abs sensor problem as the speedo picks up from the abs signals, strange one.
Or could it be a mechanical problem if the clutch is on it's last legs, as you lift does the...
I have these fitted and theres hardly any increase in vibration along with the dog bone mount, but as said they need to be done correctly, there is a thread somewhere about this I'm sure, for your rd car i'd say standard new engine mounts and a dog bone pollybush kit would be better option...
Did you swap over from a ATB diff Russ?
No, it was from an open diff, I'd run an ATB diff on the 205 years ago and it made a big change to how the car got it's power down, I wanted to try the Gripper this time as it's not my rd car so was'nt to worried about the service costs etc and the noise...
John forgot to say, I used your spare cash from the box to pay for a set of Mintex1155's for Colin, so he owes you, add £20-00 on for 24hr delivery,:rasp: I hope you don't mind as I was skint when I left Dans.
