Yep that sounds exactly like my car, I've also had a new centre section of the exhaust put on about 4-5 months ago, so it's just a case of tightening up the bolts on the exhaust sections? :) I'll check for any cracks while I'm there too
So it's just a character of the car? if so it's pretty damn annoying :dapprove: it never used to whistle which is what I find annoying, the car runs fine though (not at the moment however, having some trouble with it misfiring at low revs once warmed up at the minute but that's unrelated to this...
As title really, my car over the past 2 months or so has started to whistle/squeel when hitting 5000rpm up to the red line and it's really starting to become annoying.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be or have this problem? I'm thinking it's exhaust related because when driving past...
The xenon bulbs are D2S yeah, which are the dipped beam - I bought some 6000k ones from HIDs-Direct which give a nice white beam with a hint of blue in, anything over 6000k will become much bluer I think.
As mentioned the sidelights are W5W or 501's (same thing as far as I know) - I recommend...
You sure it's not the car battery going flat? My Dad's MGF's alarm goes off all the time when the battery starts going flat (it sits for weeks on end not being used so drains) worth a check I'd say :)
My car does the same, it buzzes/vibrates between 2400 to 3000rpm behind the rev counter...drives me insane when cruising on 50/60mph roads. It goes away when I accelerate though which isn't too bad ;)
How about Kumho KU31? I've got them on my 172 and they've been fantastic tyres in the dry and wet! (not too sure what your tyre size is though)

Yeah, I certainly wont be putting water anywhere near it again....noob mistake! :dapprove:
I put the plugs in hand tight then a little more, I'll get my brother to route out the torque wrench and tighten them to the correct level...I don't know what it is though? could it be the engine heat...
The coilpack seems fine as do the HT leads, I've cleaned the leads with electrical contact cleaner...I'll clean the coilpack tomorrow with the cleaner to see if it does anything, can't do any warm I suppose, the leads are numbered so they've been put in the right order :)
As for the plugs...
Nobody? :(
Turns out it just stutters at low revs when it has been ran for about 15-20 mins regardless of ragging it or not....seems like it reaches a certain temperature and then decides to kick off :S
Hey all, I recently changed my spark plugs from Champion plugs to some old NGK's that were in my car when I first bought it just to test the differences after reading up on the NGK's being basically the only plugs that should be used in the F4R engine. I bought the champion plugs straight after...
Thanks chaps, I'll get ordering some things over the next few weeks then, it's nice knowing it's going to be a little cheaper than I first thought!
I'm going to be giving my 172 a nice treat to some new fluids over the next few weeks, so I'm just wondering whether these are suitable for use in my car. I'd also like to know if quantities are too low or high? from what I've searched on here I've roughly got it correct I hope?
Also this oil...
Hehe, I've recently replaced the standard xenon bulbs with some 6000k ones, they didn't look really blue did they? :o
I've seen a Trophy before parked up on Dunnings Bridge Road, I presume that would be yours then? :)
26 does seem pretty low, over a 200 mile distance I average around 33-34mpg in my 172 with mixed driving (30's, 40's & national speed limits etc) and I do quite enjoy exploring the footwell of my car :o
I haven't really noticed a massive difference, road signs seem to reflect brighter and the road ahead looks a little brighter/whiter. It's mostly changed the appearance of the car :)
I'm not too sure, my brother brought them home from work off a friend one day and they happened to fit my car. They look like these though!

Just going to update this, I finally got round to buying some 6000k bulbs from HIDs-Direct, just thought I'd post a few pictures :approve: also got some silvervisions fitted, much better!
