Then why when i increased the rings size the wheels were actually no longer off center? I just did a test on my lunch, i took wheel off and put back with no ring. Wheel then spun with a obvious off balance nature. Put ring back and again its nice an cleanly spun, No off center movement...

Yes i have read this thread, after all i did start it ;) If indeed spigot rings had no effect, Why do we use them? In your view are they simply used to just help guide the wheel on? ta

Ok all. Verdict is in. Wobble has gone. What i did last night: 1. Moved spring to correct place so is now seated correctly. 2. Wrapped my spigot rings in Electrical tape thus they are now a tighter fit onto the hub and onto the wheel. Result = No wobble. I'm sure someone will know if a...

Nope i don't :P Didn't manage to get the car past 60Mph on way home due to some SLOW people. Will have to wait for my motorway trip to work to see if what i have done tonight has any effect on the wobbling. I have lined up a set of Hubs for the car for a very tidy price (£ 40 for the pair )...

There is slight movement... considering the fact that I just wrapped my front spigot rings in tape, stuck them onto hub (ooo tight fit) stuck wheel on and now when I spin the wheels they are no longer off center. so Imo spigot rings are used for a reason as long as they are the right damnnn...

To do them up. When up in air I do them up enough to hold wheel in place. then when back on ground I do them up with a long arm brake bar. Not too tight but enough that they won't simply undo. I want to get a torque wrench but they are moola expensive also just put spring back in correct...

Ok.. had a better look. The wheels are Deffo off center on the hubs. 100% spigot rings at fault here. Passenger side spring is not seated correctly. It's hanging over the edge of the strut. So that needs fixing. chap said to sort spring and get correct spigot rings. He said he is sure...

Through the wheel atm. Tyre World in kenilworth said they will stick the backs on the front for me for free just before i go home from work :D I will then know if its an issue not to do with the wheels. Great service there!

is it the glass or a more metal rattle? On mine i found that there is a metal strap on the inside of the door that was rattling.

So The ring being the wrong size can be a cause for my problems. will wait and see if these new metal ones fit. if not i will let you all know

Im 100% sure The Bolt holes are not 100% perfectly in the right place vs the wheels on the Hub. hence the reason a spigot ring is used to make sure its center. Otherwise whats the point in a spigot ring? :P No one said it was balanced on the car chap.

Exactly what i was under the impression was happening. I will stick the backs onto the front and see what happens.

The Wheel moves up and down. Much like how the Spigot ring moves about in the Center bore. Its simply not the right size so the wheel isnt central when i do it up. Causing Vibrations / wobble. Thats my theory anyway.

Hmm, Would the incident have caused the bolt holes to warp? Also i notice when i put the bolts in and do them up, just before i make them tight the wheel can still move up/down slightly. When bolts are tight it doesn't move.. Am i just being daft?

Wheels were second hand, Great wheels too :) before this incident there were no issues. Chap at tyre place said wheels look fine, The Bolt holes and the Centre bore don't seem at all warped. So hopefully the wheels are not the issue.
