So is that a big job ? As you can tell I know sweet FA about steering racks . The thing that points me towards the bushes themselves is some posts I've read , with no definitive answer I might add , of people having really bad creaking when the weathers Hot. If you were to drive my car today you...
Ahhhh ok . I won't be doing it , I'll probably book it in at Birchdown . It's just a bit of a trek , an hour and half away and they're usually pretty busy . How much roughly for new bushes ? The only thing is , as it stands with the cooler weather it's stopped making the creaking noise so it's...
Springs are definitely ok , i had the wheels off a couple of weeks ago to change the brake pads and bleed the brakes . The nise was there before I changed the pads . I think the top mounts are ok , but can't be 100% sure .
Yeah everything is stock suspension . It's been embarrassangly loud . It's been doing it for a good 4 weeks or so , while the weather has been warm / hot and dry . The last 2 days with the temperature being alot lower and it being wet the noise has completely gone .
Just recently with this hot dry weather we've been having I've noticed that theres hell of a creaking sound when turning the steering wheel. It's clearly noticeable , espcially inside the car when stationary and turning the steering wheel. It sounds like some old rusty hinge that needs oiling...
Ahhhhhh right . I see . You're probably going to be a long way from most that are for sale .
Black Gold has a Gold/Bronze shimmer to it under the Black itself. Silvers probably the most common colour that you'll come across .
Also try and get good interior pics as there can be some very untidy...
It's a bit of a lottery when it comes to price and condition on 1*2's.
I've seen posts were somebody has picked up a bargain literrally round the corner from their house . Then I've seen posts were they've had to travel the length and breadth of the country to find the one they want .
Likewise...
Looks a tidy example from the pics . Nothing major on previous MOT's , my only concern would be the last advisory of "Nearside Front Steering rack gaiter deteriorated " , don't know if that would be an issue in the future. Offer him £2500 .
And its " Arctic " :tonguewink:
So you're 17 and your insurance is already " fucked " as you say. Now you want a bigger engine , more horsepower. Then your insurance really will be fucked .
My advice is , enjoy what you have . Get some experience on the road then in the future look at buying a car that has a little more poke...
Are you on about the drivers side engine mount bolts ? If so , they are 45mm long and the washer is 4.5mm thick . I replaced mine with m10 x 40mm Flanged stainless bolts and 2 x 2.5mm washers on each bolt . Costs £5.11 delivered...
I wouldn't say it's over priced . I guess most people who want a Clio already own one on CS .As many people if not more actually don't own a Clio anymore on here . So in my opinion your market is very limited here . You'd be better off advertising it on Autotrader , Pistonheads , Ebay etc...
Personally I don't see it as a problem leaving it another 12 months / 3k miles and get all the belts done together. It's 5 years for both the belts , 72k miles for Cambelt etc.... and 36k miles for the Aux belt etc..........
£89.50 maybe :tongueclosed: Looks like a very unloved, uncared for example . Lots of advisories and MOT fails . It would probably be a right money pit.
Use Autoglym engine and machine cleaner . Squirt it liberally all over the filter then wash it under the tap from the inside out pushing the dirt out , then recoat with oil .
Your pics aren't the best to be honest . What's the rest of the bonnet look like ? Don't explain anything to him , take it to him and show him. I'm guessing he did it on the cheap , being a family friend ? You might have to bite the bullet and pay for a proper job at a decent body shop.
I think your statement has hit the nail on the head. He's a " Mechanic " not a Paint Sprayer. As others have said . Just looks like a poor job all round .
The jack and handle you have @chris blue is from a 182 , it should come in a leather look pouch and fastens in the boot behind the offside rear light.

Give them a good soaking in WD40 for a day or 2 . Take your time with the spanner . If they're tight try mole grips but if they're that tight they might shear off , then you'll need some screw extractors. Good luck
M7 x 1.00mm. These won't rust.
