    brake fuid

I thought all brake fluid absorbs water. And I thought it was dot 5 that race cars use (and is silicone based therefore not compatible with our road cars)

New Member Looking For Some Advice About Lowering A 182 Cup Seat

Welcome! As far as the standard seat goes you can lower it around 15mm by removing the vibration dampers. There's a guide in the members area on here iirc. Other than that - any bucket seat on a subframe will sit MUCH lower, there are often bucket seats for sale in the for sale section (viewable...

    paying insurance in full??

I always pay mine annually. Mine is with admiral and they refund it by the day but take off a £52 admin charge. not bad.

Warm hatch options? And what to do.

Yeah the ones with the genuine audi body kit look very nice. My friends FSI averages 32mpg not that good but the 2 in my house are the diesels which get 60mpg and are £30 to tax - but the insurance on these is relatively expensive. For an old person they're twice as expensive as a...

    Quick legality question

Same. I remember when my dad and I were looking for a car for my mum. We drove from nottingham, to blackpool (no good) to lancaster (no good) to bolton (no good) back home for another search on the net - then found one in newark (about 45 mins away!)

Warm hatch options? And what to do.

There's 2 A2s in my household and a friend of mine also has the FSI. Very very nice but not sporty at all. Some high spec ones about and the interior makes most things suggested in this thread feel/look sh*t. Have a fair amount of body roll due to them being under damped and having a taller...

Genuine OZ? If so, what model?

neh 5 is plenty. 8mm on new tyres. 1.6mm is legal limit. 5mm remaining is half way through their life roughly

    485 Bhp TTRS

Music sounds good but the car sounds dull. I'd want it to sound nicer than that if I was packing 485 ponies.

Genuine OZ? If so, what model?

I thought that too but the rim bit is different on the monza - has like a step in it whereas these are smooth.

    Matched inlets.

Thought that was an RS tuner remap?

    sound deadening/proofing

No. Not unless the boxes are huge which I doubt they will be for 12s else you'll have too much air. Bad idea imo. You won't find any "proper" boxes made out of ply! +1 on what the other james said, loads of help on there.

    sound deadening/proofing

When building your boxes I'd seal them with no nails or caulk/acrylic as well as screwing them together. And don't forget if the boxes are large to use bracings inside and don't use less than 18mm thick MDF
  20. James23

    sound deadening/proofing

You don't line the boxes with it. The dynamat type stuff is for putting on panels of your car to add weight to them to deaden the sound. There are loadsssss of cheaper alternatives to dynamat. I'd base my opinion on each materials weight per m2. The only stuff I've seen put inside the wooded...

    Rear seat belt completely jammed!

Also quite interested in this - I've bought a few used seatbelts and cannot pull any belt out of them. stewart - the trim you need to remove has 3 (i think) screws. one is hiding behind the door card.

    182 Cat-Mani fitting kit

NWP sent me a kit which I believe is for a pug 406. The bolts were not long enough and I think quite a few other members have said their bolts weren't long enough either

My Renault Clio 172 Phase 1

Like what you're doing mate. But please - get rid of those p6000's - one of the worst tyres ever, I can't believe Pirelli put their name to them!

Warm hatch options? And what to do.

+1 looks like a spaz wagon. Who not on their state pension would drive that.

Warm hatch options? And what to do.

Oh right! I've always sorta fancied one too lol that one on PH looks like it would be a right hoot to drive!

Warm hatch options? And what to do.

1 bad car doesn't mean they're all gash tho. In general I bet they fair well compared to a few of the other suggestions.

    Cold start

probably not, suppose it depends at what temp the oil is doing it's job properly. I think it has to be just over 100c (normal operating temp) to evaporate water off properly but not sure at what temp it's doing it's job 100% as far as reducing friction properly is concerned
  29. James23

    Cold start

    didn't think I was talking sh*t lol
  30. James23

    Cold start

Maybe so but it would still be better for your engine if the oil is at it's optimum oil temperature rather than 'warm enough' before giving it some beans.
