    iMac progress bar on startup

I've just tried that and it says that it cannot be repaired -.- Is it going to be a system restore job? I really can't afford to do that as I'll lose my programs and files.

    iMac progress bar on startup

I've had the Mac around 2.5 years and it's never had an issue, however the other day it started showing a progress bar on startup which takes around 15 minutes to complete. It does this every single time which is driving me mad, yet once it's completed it works absolutely fine. Any ideas?

    The XBox One Thread

The update seems to have solved some issues but there is still a long way to go. On a different note, does anybody have any idea of how to get my surround sound connected and working to it? On the 360 I used HDMI for the video and had an adaptor which led into the red & white cables which went...

Have you tried holding the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds or so? Apparently it's a reset function, which I've had to do a few times lately when I turn it on and the screen stays black.

BT Broadband - any reason not to?

I will be happy with 30Mb, but to be getting such a low speed is a joke to be honest. Has anybody got the BT Home Hub 5 installed and are running another router (via wired Ethernet) to extend the wireless range? Mine worked perfectly with BT Broadband but the tech at BT said you can't do that...

Extending network using router (wired) - HELP ME!!!!

Just to bump my thread, I've been using this old Sky router for a while and when I check the download speeds through it it is severely restricted compared to connecting directly to the main router. Plus I think (but I'm not certain) that the connection keeps dropping from it - I say think...

BT Broadband - any reason not to?

We have now upgraded to BT Infinity which "should" give us up to 79Mb download speeds, although the tech at BT said it would be more like 60Mb. I've had it for 9 days and the speed is normally around 6Mb and at best 17Mb which is very rare, so it is a very long way off what it should be. On...

Yes you get updates usually around 50MB or so, not 5GB+ haha. I wouldn't mind the updates of old.

    The XBox One Thread

Not everyone has 40MB + internet speed so why make it so that you have to download GBs for an update to a game? Like I said the most disappointing thing is the lack of a system video player to play videos and music from USB.

    The XBox One Thread

I feel like a boring complaining parrot, but this Xbox One has really disappointed me. As I said I don't really do much gaming - just FIFA usually - but for the core things I assumed it would do it's let me down. I bought Forza before so I've at least got an alternative game to play and it...

    The XBox One Thread

Another gripe...when I stay at my Missus' I used to bring my 360 round sometimes to watch Netflix. I'd put the Xbox on the other side of the wall (in the next room) where the cabinet was for the systems - I could easily use my controller from the next room. I brought my Xbox One to hers last...

Am I right in thinking that you can't play videos/audio from a USB?! The main reason I had an Xbox 360 was to play videos from my USB, so if I've bought the One and it can't it's pretty much useless to me -.-

    GTA V : online

Went on the other day for 5 mins. I walked downstairs into my garage and the buzzer went so I walked out, got shot in the face. Hadn't been on the game for 30 seconds. I spent the next 5 minutes dying regularly as about 5 people decided to target everyone spawning nearby.

    GTA V : online

Went into a few games today and every game had several tanks running round shooting everything. I decided to go and get a jet, but my shooting skills seriously lacked so ended up hitting a tree when trying to get as close as possible without being shot haha!

    GTA V : online

If I get banned, I'll just f**k the game off tbh. I did just spend an hour with 2 randomers, who were trying every way of killing me imaginable haha. It was quite funny actually, I must have died 30 times in the hour.

    GTA V : online

Shitting myself now. Just joined a game, minding my own business when a wanted guy tries to run me over. I shoot him and then it says I've successfully completed the $2bn bounty...wtf do I do? I never wanted to cheat, hence why I left the car glitch alone and now I've got s**t loads of money!

    GTA V : online

I was in a game before where I kept getting £9k bounties put on me by some guy. The same guy kept putting the same bounties on loads of players, then he gifted me £1k. Does that sound like a glitcher to you?

    GTA V : online

Went on for the first time in weeks earlier, I was constantly killed and when I managed to get a jet I was instantly blown up by a much higher level player in a jet. Then when I wrote a message of my dissatisfaction via XBL, he decided to send mercenaries and put a large bounty on me. Oh and I...

Extending network using router (wired) - HELP ME!!!!

Well, I've got it working thank fcuk! And guess what caused it? No nothing to do with either router, my dickhead little brother had decided to turn off the switch where the Powerline adaptor was plugged in downstairs. It's behind a desk so I couldn't see and it's never been turned off in the...

Extending network using router (wired) - HELP ME!!!!

biojo Here's what I did (amongst other things): Home hub setup (using static IP address), DHCP on - range is between 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.254. Setup second router upstairs via Ethernet, turned DHCP off and set the IP address to be within the range set by Home hub (e.g. 192.168.1.60) and...

Extending network using router (wired) - HELP ME!!!!

Hi guys, I have recently dropped Sky and gone over to BT Broadband, so they sent me a nice BT Home Hub 4 to setup. I have set it up no problem and the internet works, however towards the far end of the house (especially upstairs) the signal is absolutely terrible. When the Sky router was...

    The next iPhone/iPad; speculation thread.

One of my clients bought me an Air. The day before I had a meeting with them last week they dropped their own one and it smashed the screen. I said she could keep the new one, I was gutted! What are your thoughts then? Worth buying?

My Missus has the same ridiculous belief about me buying a car. She thinks that if I were to go and buy a car with a budget of £10k for example, I shouldn't get anything good (e.g. BMW, Audi etc) as I'll look stupid for living with my parents with a good car on the drive haha! She genuinely...

That's it mate, I was looking for an i3 or i5 (as you said pointless spending a lot of money for it to be never tested haha) but I'm struggling to find a decent PC that is a good manufacturer, i* processor and Windows 7. HDD space isn't a problem, I'd be surprised if he used 10MB haha!

Help me find a suitable desktop PC for a technophobe!

He just about gets by on a shitty Dell laptop that has Vista on, so I definitely think Windows 7 is the way. I've never heard of MSI, are they any good? Ideally I'd want something with an i3 or something almost as good as, although I don't know much about them so I might be talking bollox.
