I have tried a few different springs on my road rally clio. I personally find 250lbs fronts spot on, they were a massive improvement over the 350lbs I had beforehand.

You can fit the plate with the box in situ, its a fairly straight forward job and does away with the circlip. Thats what i did, save removing the gearbox which is a pain of a job.
