Well over the last 10 months I have purchased little bits and peices off ebay so has cost very little.
I expect total costs to be £3k max, have spent £1k so far and thats BAM 225bhp engine, Gearbox that I suspect has a limited slip diff in it already, alternator, starter motor, clutch, flywheel...

Standard Renault discs are terrible for falling to bits, they usually rust and that causes the uneven wear you see on the pads. Its always the inside edges that fall to bits.
Fit brembo's and it wont happen again.

The filter that has blown has an inch long peice of seal missing that I found when taking the engine out.
Glad you got it back in one peice all ok, I spoke to the service manager yesterday about your car.
I'm shocked it took so long, and as for leaving the earth wire off the back of the diff!!!....mmm let me think well I've just put a gearbox in the car....now it dont go......mmmm must be the key...
I had a good relationship with the dealer, so trusted what they said and it was only once the engine was on the floor that it was blatant what caused the failure.
I had already agreed to do the work as well.
Been in contact with my legal advise line and was basically told as I done the work on the car I dont have a leg to stand on, what I should have done was refused to do the work.
I'm gona send a letter to Renault customer services next week but dont hold out much hope as I expect that will end up...
Thats going to be more than a cat IMO, way to high.
Mines running very rich and only passes the mot if i tweak the map so it runs crap, at least i can put it back again.
If its not the cat or oxy sensors the you need to get the mapping sorted correctly.

He is correct in failing it.....but.....
Take the instrument panel apart and wire the abs light to the oil pressure light, job done, comes on with ignition off and goes out after engine running, just as it does when working correctly and not bodged to pass the mot.

Or do it the proper way.
