I have the clip, but getting the immo codes from Renault is a rite royal pian in the ass now!!
Registration docs, proof of ownership and owners ID are a must as well as a company headed letter:mad:
brake valve plays up now and again gives similar problems, or you have a faulty ABS system.
It worth changinging the fluid and checking brakes at least.
Trip to Rentech Clip Test £25+vat
and if its just something easy like a coil pack then its just the price of the part on top of that.
How can the local dealer justify £90 for the same test???
Genuine Renault parts will be less than £15 inclusive.
If I could get on Renault net I would post up part numbers but sites down for some reason tonight.
I recon it needs a new Throttle body or the wiring to the throttle body-ECU checked.
Done a few 172's with this sort of problem, it may just be the throttle pedal but I doubt it.
Its also worth checking the engine fuse box wiring as this can also cause this sort of problem.
The level 1 warning...
Take you ECU off, get it down to lucas services(in the yellow pages) and have it unlocked.
you lose the immobiliser system but your car will start, a decent aftermarket alarm system with immobiliser would be worth having once ecu is unlocked.
check the wiring in the engine fuse box, had this a few time.
You will have to unmount the relay holder to see the wiring properly, have a look for any signs of corrosion or broken wires.
bleed screw is mounted on the left hand side of the cylinder head, its a 10mm nut situated just behind the top hose mounting point.
Best to take the airbox off to get to it.
Oh and while topping up coolant leave screw out to get all the air out, refit screw, run up with coolant cap off until fan...
Sticker in the rear window, IS NOT a failable item.
Only reason it would fail is if it was in the swept area of the front sceen.

Tells you all about MOT rules.
We do above and beyond what the Renault service schedule says, will be the same for any other specialist IMO. Small companies cant afford to cut corners.
