    DIY std ECU mapping

I've been doing some looking into cracking the ECU to retune my own car and struggling to find any information about how the Sirius system switches from open loop to closed loop fuelling - most stock ECUs will have a lambda target table that runs closed loop all the time that the table is...

182 FF with catcam 428s, H&R springs and dampers, Turinis [need refurb], PMS top mounts, PMS strengthened & solid bearing wishbones, 87k engine with fresh belts, dephaser, aux tensioner, water pump, clutch and all fluids... The shell has done 104k and is in respectable condition. Fresh 12 month...

    Little blue... Clio 182 AB

Thanks! It's been a labour of love, but certainly an enjoyable one! I'm still not sure if I want to put it up for sale tbh... the drive back today was pretty special and they don't seem to come up very often with all the extra bits that mine has. It needs some thought I guess.

    Little blue... Clio 182 AB

So the story of little blue continues... Over the last week I've had the car tucked up in the workshop replacing the engine, I sourced a sub 90k mile engine from cs_dave back in January. It all went smoothly enough baring in mind that I haven't done one of these before, the old engine was...

    Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

I love those jobs that take 10x longer than they're meant to! I'm doing the engine swap on mine at the minute, every other bolt is snapping or seized... it's great. Just a note on the hubs, you should never paint the face that the brake disc mounts too - you'll likely find that you'll get a...

    Neil's Exige

Turbos took a dip a few years back and were regularly trading for circa £15k, they turned into really great investments for those that spotted it and had the cash.

    Neil's Exige

Just read through this thinking "I know this car from somewhere" to find that it went to Ken @ Nine Excellence, I look after some of his client's car's mapping and their work is always interesting! The Lotus looks epic though, I'll be interested in seeing how that pans out

    Racing blue

The reality is that YOU pay THEM for insurance, you are a customer and they are a supplier. You pay insurance so that should the worst happen, you are not out of pocket. That means... if you had to get a taxi home, stop and get lunch because your lunchbox flew out the window OR had to pay £1 to...

Steves Black 197 soon to be boosted!!

Just some advice - remove your fuel pressure gauge and put a bung in the hole. It's common to see them come out or fall apart when mounted to an engine, the vibration does them no good and they usually end up causing a fire.

    Are these 197/200 cams?

Has the pickup ring for the VVT on the inlet cam [the one on the left] - the 172/182 doesn't have that.

KTR Clio 2 Rs Race Engine Mount Kit

You run into issues when you get too solidly mounted - not just the dashboard rattling but you can end up with bolts backing out on vital items. I know of a few 4cyl race cars that have backed bolts out of cam gears etc. Do you NEED to go that hard? What's wrong with what you've got?

    Little blue... Clio 182 AB

So it's midway through January and I think it's time for a little update on Little blue! As above, I spent the whole of December on the West coast of Ireland in Co. Sligo. The weather was great throughout December and myself and the misses managed to get out and about a fair bit, we explored up...

    Black 182 Turners Hill

My favourite route for years when I lived near Turners Hill was: Turners Hill B2110 West, dogleg cross over the London Road brings you to Handcross. Take the left at the roundabout, then the right turning over the A23 and continue to follow the B2110 through Lower Beeding and join the A281...

    Black 182 Turners Hill

Forest Row is about 3/4 miles away, it's just south of East Grinstead on the A22. The road from Turners Hill out to Handcross and then down to Cowfold is well worth a drive

Was it REALLY clean and on Turini's? If so it's likely one from Forest Row.

    Daniels Blue 182.

If you've not spent out on a standalone yet, with the right hardware you can run your wheel speeds into the ECU and run motorsport traction control [wheel slip based with torque clamping, NOT the OEM style everyone hates]. You can also output vehicle speed via CAN bus or a pulsed signal. Kills...

Breaking cover......*AG content from page 45*

Good to hear - make sure you get the gear blip setup too, I've not played with the GEN90 but with the vehicles I work on going to a fully closed loop blip & cut made a massive difference to the service intervals on the single seaters.

Breaking cover......*AG content from page 45*

Tell me you're going to run some decent engine management that can handle the shift cut + throttle blip? It would be a shame for it to not be singing on full form!

    Clio RS250ish

I had a Peugeot engine I brought with a killer spec that wouldnt start, the cams were installed the wrong way around as CatCams labelled a batch wrong.... lesson is that if they put the cams in wrong it won't start.

    Clio RS250ish

I tune a lot of cars, a mechanically happy engine will not knock when running rich unless you've got an injector being held open and near hydrolocking the cylinder. If it's able to fire the mixture then it's not knocking due to being rich. It's worth checking you've got the fuel lines on the...

    bent connecting rods

Rods only really bend through seeing too much pressure, on NA engine's this is nearly always due to water entering the cylinder OR incorrect valve timing. If the valves have contacted the during a in-correct cambelt change, then it will only usually be 1 cylinder that affected and there will...

Lesson Learned: If a driver is being aggressive behind you, just move over

Not worth the time these days. I'm fortunate enough to live in a nice area and often come across some appalling driving, including a women who was blatantly drunk the other week (mounted the curb twice in 3 miles, varying speed, not noticing kids playing by the road etc...) I just call it into...

    Daniels Blue 182.

I've been working on a PCB through work that can handle this kind of thing, do you have any information on how many pulses per km or if they're negative or positive? If they're transmitted via CAN it's a doddle.

    Clio MK2 DCis...

Looks like I'll be keeping an eye on the classifieds then! Realistically around where I live you can flow with the traffic in a 182 driving carefully and maintain 37-39mpg, it's hard work though and frustrating if you're ever in a hurry!

    Clio MK2 DCis...

I need a cheap run around for next year, I'm likely going to be doing 300-400miles a week and want something cheap to put the miles on rather than the 182. What are the real-world figures and drivability of the Dci? Any things to look out for with them?

I thought I'd just say thank you for putting the hard effort into the research on wheel spacers - I'll be ordering mine in time for my return to the UK in January
