Plenty of nice metal there, a car geeks dream, quite frankly, especially if you're up on your racing car history.
Loads of stuff I didn't get shots of, Panamera (looks like a Top Gear Porsche Limo, horrific!), the 2 Veyrons. More Sportscar/Le Mans cars than I could count as well, pretty much...
From your pics they all look a similar flat Sunflowery yellow, apart from the Cup Racer, which looks slightly more Liquid Yellow.
Were they all the same colour in the metal?
Virtually all my 'keepers' were taken on the house side of the hillclimb (cars going from my right to left whilst going up the hill), it's much quieter over there and there are some fantastic angles that you don't have to fight for space to get!
I got fed up of people pushing in or standing...
You didn't specify why they were tripoding, so there are a few dubious ones here ;)
and just for fun, whilst on the subject of wheels off the ground...
Nick Mason's GTO, being driven by his wife, iirc.
Peter Fonda is driving the motorcycle in that pic, replica of the one used in Easy Rider (original was stolen), quite odd seeing a super-famous actor blatting it up the hill on a bike!
Quite amused that I walked around the corner and then straight into you, especially considering there were about 50,000 people there!
I enjoyed it more than last year, variety of cars seemed better and they seemed to pay more attention to the Friday this year (more famous drivers, Red Arrows...
Thought this might start to get boring after a few years running, but nope, it doesn't! Up at 4:30 this morning to make sure I was there for opening (7am), lovely and quiet (relatively) for the first hour, which was great for grabbing some static shots.
The action shots are a little different...
Great pics, some top cars there.
That Marcos was built about 2 miles from my house, awesome cars. I miss the days of them test driving the new cars around the local lanes...could always hear them before you saw them!
Went with some more OEMs in the end, found an ex Ignis Rally driver who had a set in waaaaay better condition than mine, 5 wheels, 2 with P6000s with 75% tread left, £130, bargain!
I don't want to dampen the entertainment, skinny tyres = good fun. Not as planted, sure, but considering I like my...
It works in a strange way I guess, in terms of it being Hamilton in focus between two Renaults. However, 'conventionally' it would normally be the front car in focus with the rear two blurred.
1/50 is hard work with F1 cars, I was quite surprised at how much quicker they really are (stupid, I...
Can't complain for free I guess, but the more I see of these, the more embarrassing they are, to be quite honest. Clearly a reasonable lens has been used, but that's literally all you can say about them. Lazy doesn't even come close.
I think you're asking for the impossible. Unless you use a very fast shutter speed (and therefore lose all sense of movement) you won't get all the cars sharp, especially if they are moving in different directions.
That's not a bad thing though, in my opinion. It's better to have a clear...
That's pretty depressing really. Not blowing my own trumpet, but I remember my shots from the last two years (I didn't make it this year) going down much better than the professional ones.
Maybe a case of not what you know, but who you know? Shame as there are hundreds of decent motorsport togs...
HT is Portsmouth area, is it not?
All the press cars were on H* plates, so I assume Renault UK registered them pretty much as soon as they arrived in port. So if they were pre-registering the last ones, I guess it would make sense that those are the plates they were allocated.
Either that, or...
Maybe, undecided yet. I'm thinking a really really dark grey, just to give it a little bit of contrast.
I'm not sure if the aggressive black on black look would work on such a 'cute' car, though. Currently trawling around the web for pics to see what's been done, but there are so few of them...
Hopefully yep, probably not till next year now though as I'm supposed to be saving for a couple of holidays for the rest of this year. Will probably try Keevil first before considering Combe anyhow.
Yup, heard that one from the missus, my Dad called it a hearse...every possible 'dig' at it has been heard already, believe me!
Eh? My Hyundai was the wrong way around, I thought I was back to normal now!
My folks said Silver, it's tempting, just seems a little boring though.
Amphasite is the future, I reckon ;)
Not yet, alloys were a bargain so that's this months purchase. Whitelines next, the induction kit is a looooong way off though, have you seen how much that thing costs?!
Yup, I've ask everyone what they thought I paid for it when I see them - after they stop laughing at it and making jokes (I've heard them all) they all say £4-5k at least.
600 miles in now, absolutely loving it, I still grin from ear to ear through the twisty bits.
I bought 5 spare alloys today, they are going on the car and the current ones are getting a refurb.
So, what colour? Anthracite is my top choice at the moment.
