Wow wow wow! My favourite part of the world and you've captured it beautifully. The Puffin shots are out of this world.
How does the Skomer trip work? Would love to pop over one day. Are you free to wander once there? Any details would be appreciated.
Fantastic once again, that last rig shot posted is by far the best. Technically it's very hard to fault them.
imo the statics in post #15 (and the couple of car park statics in the first post) work better than the sunset shots, they look more natural. I'm not sure how the outdoor ones could...
Taken from a helicopter? :)
Didn't spot this one hidden within a fairly standard looking race meet (I'm guessing they can't attend most circuits within that package due to noise regs), excellent stuff though, must have sounded superb.
Quite amused that I had absolutely no idea, I don't even know which ones were the BSBs!
Yep it was a strange one, different crowd (leather-clad) but was a pretty good way to spend a day off, £6 and no ice-cream van though, gutted.
I spent a leisurely day off down at Thruxton yesterday. Not a clue what was going on or what bikes were what, but it was good fun anyhow.
I admit it, I have no idea why they have an Audi R8 Safety Car.
A few more here...
No that's about right! I did both days at Thruxton this year...
Saturday it was really quiet, straight in, couple cars in the car park, every decent shooting angle available around the track.
Sunday was a 40min queue to get in (an hour before the first race!) and absolutely every...
Saturday is always pretty good Ian, usually significantly cheaper, waaaaaay less busy and there is more track activity (less racing, though), it's a great day for getting lots of nice photos.
Yup, spotted it last minute so headed down at lunchtime. Not been since I met up with you a couple of years ago there, forgot how much fun it is.
Unfortunately it was a different 'car park' this year (left instead of right off the lane), I bottomed out severely in my Korean pimp wagon. So...
StormJacket SLR Medium (although to be honest I need Large now I have the Sigma 120-300), cost about £30 on Warehouse Express.
Expensive, but imo has paid for itself many times over.
There are bits of physical kit that do it for you but they aren't particularly cheap so it depends what you want to spend on it really. I've done mine the old fashioned way so far, stop watch and a lot of free time...

Re: someph-ing different...........
Just had a brief nosey through the last few pages, car has certainly changed a lot over time. Liking most of what you've done, but loving that you've gone completely in your own direction with it.
How is it on track? For me it would be getting to that...
I would go with Sigma 99.9% of the time if they are directly comparable lens' with a massive price difference. In this instance I would go with the Sigma 70-300 every time, it's a belter. In fact I would save myself more and get the non-APO version (if an AF-S version exists)
In my opinion you...
