Had one experience of them so far and was chuffed to bits. Bought a reconditioned 16GB iPhone 3G straight from O2 (I say 'bought', it was free on my £25 contract), a week later the Wifi started playing up...took it to the Genius Bar and after 5 minutes they unwrapped a new one and handed it to...
I went to check out the 'Volcano Sunset' last week, it wasn't actually any different to any other dry dusty time of year, but still looked preedy...
Then I bought Hipstamatic, I'm sure the plastic lens purists are hating the iPhone generation, but what the hell, it's great fun and a...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
Lens: Roboto Glitter
Film: Pistil
Flash: Berry Pop
What I love about it (and the whole point of 'plastic' photography) is that it manages to emulate that 'never quite sure what you're going to get' aspect I love about Lomo Cameras.
Take two identical...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
I'm ever so slightly in love with Hipstamatic. I've always wanted a Lomo/Holga Camera but couldn't really justify the outlay, this is a great way of dipping your toe in the water without the expense.
Amazingly well put together, the interface is brilliant. I've...
Don't know, assumed so but it's a cracking job on it so hard to say for sure...even the exposed bits you could see between the panel gaps (:)) had the pattern/weave, looked seamless.
CGT was just in the public car park a few cars away from mine, epic. Had Pescarolo logos on it so presumably...
The most RS Clios I think I've ever seen at a CC Action Day, nice turnout on the CS stand as well.
Pics, as ever...
Loads more here: http://chrisharrison.smugmug.com/Motorsport/PCAD10
still got 500 non-Clio pics to sort through...
Only in terms of it lasting longer and being less likely to suffer any drop out, if you get a 'good' cheap one (and most are) you are hugely unlikely to suffer any image quality issues. A very small minority of people suffer from interference with different equipment in the vicinity, in which...
Hundreds (thousands, in fact) of real-life tests online and a few scientific ones I've found, virtually none of them could see a difference. Up to 5m seems fine these days, but lots of reports of 10m being fine as well in 'cheap' form. Worth mentioning that length won't 'degrade' the actual...
Catch 22 really, better access but working to a spec, or no access and doing what you like!
It is getting tougher and tougher, Combe for example has about 70-80% more fencing this year than when I started 3 years ago, I also hear Brands has lost my favourite angle (Surtees).
Thruxton is my...
Yup slightly different picks, the 6 limit on TP is evil!
Only got one lens I use, so cleanliness is no longer an issue! The auto-clean function is pretty awesome on the D90 though, noticed a blotch on Monday morning, flicked a switch and it was gone. Nice not to worry about shooting f22...
Stunning, #8 is indeed a cracker, the crowd adds a great splash of colour to it.
For once I'm quite jealous of the media pass, some awesome but impossible angles for us mere mortals
I picked up a Sigma 17-70 2.8-4.5 Macro for just under £100 after I sold everything, so that's my 'catch all' lens for now. Bit ropey but does the job for Ebaying stuff etc.
Annoyingly (well, sort of!), I'm travelling around the US this Summer and Christmas, so I could do with the 50-150 2.8...
Any idea how many 'standard' RS' have been sold so far? My area isn't exactly hot hatch central, but I've seen 6 over the Easter weekend (the dark blue being my favourite) within 20 miles of my house, my local Ford (Elkins) must be doing good business on them.
Great write up and good to see a road-going Clio make the transition to racing (very few non Cup Race Cars actually racing, somewhat surprisingly)
Will do my best to get to Brands on May 9th, would be good to see it 'live' and grab some shots.
Yup, loads about as always, RIXPH in the car park near the paddock as well. Also spotted my sixth new Focus RS in two days (4 within a 2 mile radius of my house at completely different times yesterday), how many have they sold?!
Pretty much! £600 camera and £1000 lens. Can get similar(ish)...
Standard of racing was surprisingly good in that series today, he was pretty racey with Kilby's Evo (which only had 4th and 5th for the whole race) and Williamson's Escort. Apparently the SWB had a fault which meant it was 200bhp down on power, but I imagine that helped more than hindered.
The Evo 3 he used in the Special GTs last season seems to be the better race car, but this one certainly draws more attention to the series (the Escort won the race, btw)
Cracking day at Combe today, first race for the AJEC AAA 4WD Saloons, so some very powerful machinery out racing for the first time...

Excellent work, surprisingly good results from such a bonkers solution as well! I love the softish edge to it all, works nicely with the subjects you've chosen.
Close Up Filters are also a pretty good (and cheap) way of doing macro with a 50mm.
Yep probably a bit much, horrible light and had no filter so they looked pretty awful straight from camera. Played around to try and make them look reasonable but as always I hate the whole process of editing pics, so gave up!
I've never felt the need for one (or ever had one) at Thruxton...
Got Peggle on my iPhone (amazing game) and already have Trials HD. Nothing obvious really floats my boat in Arcade or Indie from a quick browse around, will no doubt keep buying the monthly Forza 3 updates though.
Will be interesting to see how Game Room develops as well, the cabinets...
TomS was kind enough to bring his V6 down last Sunday, and yesterday I popped down to Thruxton for 4hrs, so the camera has been well and truely dusted off for the first time since October last year. Ropey as hell, but great fun, which is a promising sign (even the lens held out, and even better...
Spent the morning down at a very muddy Thruxton yesterday watching the practice/quali for the BTCC and support package, a few new Clio Cup pics to share.
They seemed a bit subdued compared to previous years, less kerb hopping, less flame and looked a fair bit more composed (at the expense of...
Do these things ever expire? I hope not, because I have no idea what I'm going to do with all these (still got another one on the way as well)...
Cheers Very, and CS :)
