I went lo-fi this year, bolted the gorillapod on and put my camera on the floor (without framing things up), switched it to remote and pressed my ML3 occasionally. Had no idea what I shot 'till I got home or even if I managed to catch any fireworks.
A bit odd, but got plenty of normal firework...
^^^ Driving against 3 or 4 similar cars didn't seem to do him much good last season, several serious cases of red mist. Hopefully this season has calmed him down a bit, would seem so as his race craft has improved a lot.
Hopefully he will turn the boost down next year and mix it with the Exige...
Has improved immensely this season, been really impressed actually. Not sure if the car is better set up for Combe than his old 9 RS, or that it's done him good to move out of the Saloons and spice things up with some more varied machinery.
Nice guide, really useful stuff and unlike most books, actually readable! Most filters are a dark art to me, but if anyone wants to explore further, one book that is very good is this Lee Frost effort, very clear with lots of examples and more filters than I knew existed.
At the very top end...
Cheers for the comments guys, much appreciated. Been looking back through this years shots and I'm thinking I have to make a major change next year. Loving the sharpness and clarity of my super-siggy but I've definitely gone backwards in all other respects this year. Never thought I would say...
Thought I would share my day of motorsport togging with you guys. My 'do nothing' approach to getting interesting work finally seemed to be stalling this past few months, so I was quite pleased when this showed up in my inbox as I was still unsure about the whole 'photography as work' thing...
Hold out, I got a reconditioned 16GB 3G for nothing from them in August on the basic £35 tariff, so unless they have substantially changed their reconditioned pricing, it should be free at some point. 8GB would fill up very quickly imo.
Broke after two days, took it to the Apple Store and they...
Won't the V5C or whatever it's called have the last owner on it? Or do dealerships at this end of the market re-register it to protect their clients interests, or some such nonsense?!
A few shots from a brilliantly organised day at Castle Combe yesterday. Basically, show up, hand over £20 or £40 (depending on car) and get 5 laps passenger ride.
It's fair to say everyone was loving it, the biggest shock to most being the braking power of race cars, and how committed the...
I posted about a Photobox problem here once before where something came out different to what I designed, and somebody said exactly the same about automation, very odd. Customer Services passed my email onto the Production Analyst anyway, she has corrected the fault and put them through to be...
The only reason I stick with them is that they always re-despatch faulty orders with no problems, so as along as you're not in a rush you do get a good product eventually! Not ideal for wedding shots though, I imagine, as I assume they want them in a reasonable time frame..
Too late for me...
That looks fantastic, clear and clean as you would expect from Apple.
Photobox products are very very good when they come out well, but quality control is questionable at best. I use them an awful lot, and I would say 1 in 4 of my 'gift' orders have issues, so I would certainly never even...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
Awesome, thanks. Just input a mix of those listed based on my usual average speeds and preferred roads, caculated my Chandlers Ford route and it gave me the exact route I take instead of cross-country. Love it.
Gorgeous. Girl locally has one as a daily driver so I get to see one every day, fantastic sight on the road, they have awesome road presence.
Couldn't care less about it being 'underpowered' (so is the standard 1.7, but still awesome to drive), have only heard wonderful things about how they...
Top stuff, glad it all went ok. I'm firmly in the 'hate it' camp, which is a shame as it's good money if you're good at it.
Currently helping my sister with her arrangements, £1500 seems average, which is unbelievable, quite frankly! Some we've looked at have been average at best, but are fully...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
How/what/why?!
Unless I'm being dense (definitely potential) it's not very easy to make it choose a sensible route. Mine is always trying to take me on the shortest route, which is almost never the quickest.
Last week going to Chandlers Ford I just switched...
I've bought one new car ever (a Clio), rang them the day before it was due (hadn't heard anything in 2 months since I ordered), they told me it had arrived 3 days ago!
It was still only on 6 miles, so at least they hadn't used it as a courtesy car or something.
Maybe you sound like a dick on the phone?! When I was selling my last car I had some right weirdos phone up asking if they could come round, yes I wanted to sell my car, but I wanted it be painless (for me and them), got some really pushy people "I'm interested, but I have to see it in the next...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
Not played this much yet, but the few levels I've done so far are very clever. I imagine it's going to be a right brain-f**k once I get into it.
Surprised that so many think they would struggle with £2-3k, that part of the market is great for fun little cars.
I only had a £2.5k budget and wanted to move away from a Clio for a change, I was spoilt for choice when it came to great handling, fun cars (SportKa, Ignis Sport, MX-5, 306, for...
Re: iPhone "must have" apps?
SkySmash is brilliant, gorgeous graphics. It's the first vertical shooter I've played on the iPhone so I don't know if the control method is the norm, but it's fantastic. Wondered how it would work but they've worked around the limitations beautifully.
I'm sure some of the Combe guys (who have the additional advantage of only having to travel to the same circuit all season) run for £10k, some probably even a lot less than that. One of the guys I spoke to last week virtually only has to pay for entry fees, tyres, fuel and the occasional part...
I still love mine after all these years, not the prettiest site (it's fully customizable, but I wouldn't have a clue how), but bulletproof in the extreme, which has been very useful when I've had to send off electronic 'portfolios' to magazines etc in the past...
