Only hot air out of heater!

So my problem is the opposite - im only getting cold air. Whipped the cover off and my cog is fine, and i swapped the plugs around to prove each motor works. Which they do. It seems the plug for the temp controller doesn't work however. Where do i go with this? Would this specific feed have...

Position of 4 rib belt on 5 rib pulley

    Spacers 'guide'/info

I've got some ET50 wheels that touch the rear calipers, so was planning on just getting 5mm spacers for the rear only. Most people seem to be running wider at the front - am i likely to have any issues with only 5mm spacers at the rear? id have thought it better to have a wider rear track in...

    What is this wire?

I've only investigated as much as the photo shows. Will have a look tomorrow.

    What is this wire?

Well i'm running out of things to check to be honest. TDC sensor and compression check are about all i've got left to investigate.

    What is this wire?

Thanks so much, will check fuses, but car is running 'ok'. Apart from this ongoing surging/hesitancy problem. Assume its safe to cut and repair the wire?

    What is this wire?

Bit of a long shot - but anyone identify this wire that's been worn through? thanks

    Help finding battery drain

Yes and no. The parasitic drain was a poorly chock blocked wire behind the radio, so sorted that. The surging issue - hopefully.. Despite the injectors having correct resistance and firing when removed, i think one or more is faulty when the car is actually running. The whole problem got a lot...

The 'What MPG Do You Get?' Thread

How accurate is the on board mpg gauge? I just did a round trip from Suffolk to Cornwall, getting approx 42 mpg @ around 70mph on the way there using BP and Tesco premium. And 45-47mpg on the return trip using Esso standard unleaded.

    fitting brake ducts!!

I'm saving the planet and recycling this thread.. Just binned my carbon canister and left the fuel pipe to vent, but after reading the above, would i be better to feed it back into the inlet direct? I could smell the fumes pouring out of it whilst working on the car. Regarding relocating the...

No space to remove tensioner. Help

Cheers, I manged to remove it via moving the alternator. I also changed the lower pulley without jacking the engine. By the look of the old belt, i got there just in time.

No space to remove tensioner. Help

But the power steering pulley is blocking it - i didn't dare lift the engine much higher. What about the picture above, do you tighten that bolt Mike?

No space to remove tensioner. Help

I don't care if its a stupid question - but should the bolt circled red be tightened when all refitted? Its loose when delivered, but dont know if that is for fitting (to split the part) or to allow it to pivot.

No space to remove tensioner. Help

Should the bolt at the bottom of the tensioner spring be tightened once all positioned? It looks like it should be left loose to allow it to pivot when needed. (Not talking about the hex head)

No space to remove tensioner. Help

Bottom bolt is out, as is the top. Im hoping it was the lack of daylight that was to blame..

No space to remove tensioner. Help

Bumper is off, but the alternator isn't fouling on cross member. Its hitting the lower aircon pipe if i bring it forward, or the edge of the mounting bracket if i go up.

No space to remove tensioner. Help

Also, do you tighten the bolt at the bottom of the spring once all together?
  25. B

No space to remove tensioner. Help

I'm changing my aux belt, and have removed the tensioner easily enough, but how the fu*k do you remove it from the engine bay?? None of the guides i've read seem to mention this small detail. I tried raising the engine, but that doesn't help. So i thought id remove the alternator and whip it...

I just viewed one with 11 previous owners. As already said, go on condition and how it drives - and your gut feeling.

Buying track car and engine life

Add the price of belts and the other bits you'd probably replace whilst the engine is out and its will soon add up. Better just to stay on top of belt changes.
