I had the same issue on my MK3 Clio, changed the aux belt and that cured it for a month or two, came back with vengence same as yours. I didn't have the steering issues but the noise was really bad, even worse when wet. The cause ended up being the aux belt tensioner for me.

Try contacting the Renault trader on here if you want to buy them new and oem but of course at a price. Renault Wolverhampton is in the trader section, just post a thread and ask if they have any. If you are not after new ones then they sometimes pop up on ebay.

I have a 1.4 MK3 and it had a bad misfire not too long ago, was 2 of the 4 coil packs which gave up and needed replacing.

Might want to check the speedo will still be correct, I'm in the process of buying some 16' alloys to replace my smaller 15' alloys and apperently the speedo will under read the real speed.

I think the colour will look good on the Canasta's! They are the best oem alloys by far for the non sport MK3's. Been looking for a set myself for ages but nothing decent ever comes up! Put some pictures up of the new colour if you can, interested to see what they turn out like :)
