Is it my imagination or are 172/182/197's not as well loved by their owners as most other 'enthusiast' cars are???

Turned out to be the bearing in the steering column had shattered. The 'jamming' was the ballbearings getting lodged within the shaft! Got a new one on order, so what with a cam belt change, new brakes/disks and a full service my first clio bill is going to be quite an eyeopener I reckon!!
