I recommend uprating the engine and box mounts, it reduces the engine movement a lot and is definitely a worthwhile upgrade imo.
I would suggest you do everything though including arb and wishbone bushes as by stiffening up one end is only going to transfer the twisting force to another...
AFAIK the racing driver doesn't have anything to do with the car other than drive it and give feedback to the mechanics and engineers so that they can get the best out of the car.
It's the mechanics/engineers that look into all the physics.

The issue with the revs sounds like your map sensor.
I snapped mine the other week (lol) and started it up to see how it was running and it wouldn't idle properly, the revs were up and down so I turned it off straight away.

Mine runs on nothing but 95 cheapest stuff I can find. Also I know people who run theres on 95 when it's been mapped specifically for 99 still without any issues.
