Had a offer from another member on here but seems as though it might fall through.
I was looking for around £1500 because it has 10 months mot or 600 miles ago, 2 pirelli p zero nero tyres again 1000 ago and a massive full service history and only 56k on the clock. The car is 99% perfect and...
Cant be bothered if i am honest, heard some nasty storys about how big a job it is and i have just lost that thing where you dont mind working on them as it has just broken and been left, just cant be bothered on it
Hello
Sorry i haven't updated this i sort of lost the thread and with having to find a new car forgot to update.
I am unsure who did the cambelt as there is a stamp in my service book with a combelt stick showing it was done but no garage. I havent checked to see if the cambelt has snapped as...
Yeah the car is pretty dam mint, it has extensive service history, serviced every 5k, 11 months mot etc.
I may take you up on that offer andy, what sort of hours are involved in changing the engine?
Where you based andy?
What are the chances it will need a complete engine or just a top end?
Tom
Was driving to work today, and complete loss of power at around 6k rpm ( was getting up speed on dual carridge way).
It looks like my cambelt has gone, i have looked in the oil cap and there are bits of metal in the head.
Has anyone got any experience with cam belt snaps on these engines...
I am trying to do a compression test on my 2002 172
To do this i have got the inlet mani off but i need to stop the petrol first before i can do it.
I have searched and it seems there is no cut off switch like older cars.
How can i stop fuel going into the cylinders?
Many thanks
tom
I know it seems to be to fast for it to be a lead.
The leads seem ok but it just seems a pain to take the manifold off to check the leads. But then a coil pack will cost a few quid to replace at the smae time
They arent the same numbers, Was just hoping it could be a tempory fix, just dont wnat to risk making more damage.
Or has anyone got a spare one that i cna just try or even buy in the surrey, hampshire area?
Hope someone can help me
Today my car has developed a bad misfire, i have had the rac out and we belive it is a coil pack as it, just went very quickly.
The engine mangement light is on and on diagnosics no fault codes came up.
It seems to sudden to be plugs or anythinglike that.
my...
I did think they had taken it off on purpose, ow well, i was selling it at end of feb so no point me trying to fault find it.
You will be suprised the car still pulls very well, i had a gti6 before and this feels just as fast
It was a garage, it was done before i bought it.
Yeah its like a metaly noise, very fast rattle, un plug it and it sounds fine.
the car is still very powerful and revs fine, could it just be solanoid just broken?
Had a belt done about 10k ago
If its not plugged in does that mean the vvt does not work?
could someone have left it unplugged as when a cambelt was done the vvt was damaged.
would this make the car slower not having it in
I was out this morning having a level top up on the 172, had a check under the oil cap and then i noticed that there was a plug just behind the oil filler that was unplugged.
So i plugged it in, next the car was rattling like the valves were hitting and was down on power.
Upon unplugging...
I have just put a set of pirelli p zero nero's on mine and hte handling seems very good.
Has been wet past few days but first impressions are good.
I have cont's on before hand and they seem on par with each level.
Its worth paying for quality, although i am sure you can find more via search
hello all
I should make a note of people i see, loads in camberley area, always try and flash you lol.
Work in bracknell and a few there i see a lot.
Was following a black 172 with exhaust pipe and loads of fcs stickers other day towards camb, any one heres?
Have done this to mine, just keep the air feed in the similar direction if your worried.
I doubt that you will get anything in there as its still rather tight behind the light and anyways thats what the air filter is there for
I have only had bad experinces with green stuff, they seem to take ages to heat up and thus not very good on public roads.
Std pads are perfectly fine for normal road cars imo
No its my mate, i watched him do it.
Not his fault, as it happened a week previous another guy did 172 brakes from same place and same thing happended.
Just thought i would post up as i have just had a really bad issue when replacing my rear brakes.
Recently got the clio and noticed that the rear brakes were getting badly worn.
So go to local motor factors to get me some replacement parts, and get a shock when realise they need rear bearing...
I live near tomlinscote school, just off farm road.
I have seen a few 02 plate silver cars around the area, keep an eye out, i have got a red 51 plate.
I have just taken the pipe going to the acostic valve and fitted a pannel filter, gives it a nice throaty roar now. costs noting, takes 10 secs and makes so much differnce, just by being able to hear the engine, and you still get all the factory airbox still in place.
My feul cap does say 98 ron only, but the way i see it, its only a renault clio with millions of units produced for loads of countrys, they have to make engines able to run on many qualitys of petrol and there fore i dont see why using basic 95ron would make much differnce as these engines hvae...
