Had the dephaser done today, car feels a little more responsive low down, but best of all no more embarrassment when idling at traffic lights, it's so weird not hearing the engine now at a stand still,
if anyone in Colchester or surrounding areas needs any work done I can't recommend enough...
Thanks for the quick reply bud.
Only reason i ask is everytime i see a de-cat for sale, they always mention which exhaust system it fits. I just want one for the standard system.
Looking for de-cat for my standard exhaust.

before i spend a tonne of cash on having the dephaser done and all the other bits that go with it, what would be my other options?
Is there different cams i can run with fixed pulleys, would it be cheaper to buy another engine that's already had the work done and just swap out the engine?
I...
Looking at doing the dephaser soon, is it wise to use all genuine parts, or to save some money by purchasing a Gates cambelt kit and a Bosch water pump etc, im inclined to buy a Genuine Dephaser, just trying to save money on an already expensive job.
I wouldn't use cheap unbranded stuff, but...
My girlfriends Clio 1.2 16v was suffering from poor MPG, turned out to be the air filter. Even though it was not due a change, and was done with its last service it was not letting the car breath properly.
Worth spending £10 and see how it goes. I think the air filter is way to small on her car...
My friend did this, except he didn't get a frost it rained instead, and all the water traveled through the sheet into the car and filled his footwell with water, which is were is ECU was, killing the car.
My recommendation... Don't shut a sheet in your door.
it would seem everything is wrong with my car.
Bought it 3 weeks ago, Dephaser is now making noise, so got to do Cambelt aux belt and water whist its being done,
Went for an MOT today, front spring snapped on the way into the garage and it failed on discs all round and a tyre.
All in all i...

Car failed its MOT today, need discs and pads all round, Do i stick to genuine Renault discs or is there a recommended brand that does the job well?
Not sure what pad I'm going to run yet, as i would like to do a bit of track time next year...
Any info on what you've had experience with would...
Funny enough i have already spoken to James, he's a friend of a friend.
I think i will go with him, i just wanted to see if there was any other recommended peeps around the area.
Im looking for someone to do the dephaser on my 182.
Can anyone recommend a mechanic around the Essex/Suffolk area, I'm located in East Bergholt so this side of Essex would be preferred.
I dont consider a car that sounds like a diesel and has a lumpy idle fit for purpose, its not as it should be. but each to there own.
If the trader doesnt pay for it i have no choice but to get it done, i bought it a week ago punting it on is not really an option, log book would show i started...
Emailed the company today, got a response saying they had ceased trading as of the 11th, sounds boll*ks but before i bought the car they said they where selling all the stock with the run up to the end of the year to start new things next year,
I spoke to Renault today, they said they would do...
Ok, im a little confused, went to move the car this morning and noise has completely gone, it seems to be only once the car has warmed up,, any thoughts guys? Or is that the start of it going?
Thanks for all the info and help guys, I would understand the traders view if I had owned it a while and done loads of miles, but 6 days and under 100miles is nothing excessive, and I expect it to last longer than that.
i will call them tomorrow and see how it goes, I'll keep you updated.
what...
I bought a Clio 182 last weekend, 54plate, 80k really nice clean motor. Engine was quite and sounded sweet
Didnt really drive it for a few days as needed to Tax it, so only used it the past couple of days, i haven't even done 100miles and I start to hear a strange noise coming from under the...
Hi guys, nice to find a decent forum for the clios, I own a 2002 172, love the car, I was suprised that it is more fun to drive than my old car, which was a 300bhp 200sx s14a, I love the way it just wants to go round bends lol,
Can someone tell me what's 1*2 mean, keep seeing around the for...
