Been a good week for the Clio! Had the car booked in with ktec to get my braided lines fitted along with fresh brake fluid, gearbox oil, coolant and coolant bottle tart the bay up!
Getting it filled and taking the obligatory picture at the pump.
Took a while to get down there with morning...
Sourced a second hand PMS shifter for the car. It’s the older version which I think I prefer the look of tbh. This has been on my list for the Clio since day 1 so to finally sort one is great.
All the old s**t (especially the ridiculous add on the shaft) removed. Was a bit awkward to do but got...
I’m hoping to get it set up tomoz. Fingers crossed it comes up okay! Only issue I’ve got with fitting without is that the linkage will rub the gearstick base sides and not contact the bearings meaning it won’t be smooth
So I’ve just picked up a second hand PMS shifter. Got around to fitting it today and realised that the gearstick base seems to be pulled in meaning the washers can’t go between it and the bearing on the linkage.
I think I am correct in that that is where the washers should go!?
Any ideas on...
Took my delivery of ACF-50 and coilover covers late last week. As soon as it arrived I began coating the coilovers and arch areas so that they would be nicely protected!
Fronts fitted and dressed appropriately. Although I was told to leave them at the height they arrived at I did adjust them...
So I’ve finally got around to getting my BC DS coilovers fitted.
Someone told me that the front top mount nut is 100NM! That sounds mad!
I’ve searched and found two bloody torque settings, 20NM and 60NM?!
So my question is which one is it?!
Got ktec solid top mounts (if that makes a...
So I’ve finally got on and started the process of getting my old ktec coilovers off and the DS coilovers on. Now my question is as these BC DS coilovers are different to adjust height (whole shock body turns in hub mount), has anybody got the distance measured from the hub mount bottom to the...
So I’m finally getting started on fitting my new BC coil overs. Got the car up and on jack stands to get at the old kit.
The leaking damper up close. Was that bad if it went on it’s side the oil was dripping out! Glad to get shot of these now.
All off and ready for the new parts. I’ve...
My god this got the treatment quickly! Looks awesome. Really need to pull my finger out and get on with mine!
I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread. Great write up!
Small update. My @MarcB battery cover arrived. Got it fitted asap and the improvement it makes to the bay is great.
Quality bit of kit that looks awesome!
Another small task (not on my car) was to deal with these badly hazed headlights for a friend. I think he will be very happy with the...
So finally got some time to have a snoop around for any clues on the power loss. Wanted to get the inlet manifold off to check the egg gasket was in position properly etc. Once removed I noticed that it all seemed a bit oily compared to how it’s been before!
This is from the Lower inlets just...
I did feel as though it may of been slower. I did wonder if I was getting used to it but this dyno does put doubt on that theory of getting used to it.
Cheers for the advice. Don’t suppose anyone knows a decent place within Gloucestershire area to get it looked at. Think if it is timing it must of slipped as another dyno had it 178 bhp engine around a year ago. Not had belts done in my ownership.
Thanks
Thank you for the speedy reply
Can it slip/adjust that drastically without any other obvious signs? Full belts kit and service I presume then!?
Cheers again
Had a dyno meet yesterday. Was really excited to see how she went then I got this dismal print out. Gutted to say the least. The rollers did work as some other lad with a low boost turbo 182 said it would make 230 - 240bhp and in it came out at 231bhp I believe! 152.7bhp at engine and 150lbft...
So I had a meet and dyno day yesterday not far from me! Got the turd cleaned up and ready Friday afternoon. Artsy shot for the gram!
All strapped down and ready to go! Was looking forward to seeing if the new exhaust, cat, plugs and lambdas sensors had helped her out on the power front...
Finally pulled the trigger on a set of coilovers. Picked up these bc racing DS from KamRacing. BC changed the name from DR to DS from 2018 onwards.
First impression is wow. Lovely looking bit of kit with a host of nice features. Went with 8kg rate front and back. Now I’ve got to get my arse in...

Like these? Seem to be very well specced. The height adjust with the bottom mount to retain the travel is brilliant!
Thinking if I...
In truth the car is more of a weekend toy/ fast road kinda thing, or at least the aim as I realistically will only end up doing around 4 - 5 trackdays a year! But very much enjoy the look of the car being lower than shocks and springs sort of setup. Can you buy the B14 struts separate!?
Just wanted to try and get an idea of common serviceable coilovers that people are using. I’m currently looking into upgrading my Ktec basic coilovers. Budget of around £1000.
Hoping the knowledgable folk you are will be able to list some options and prices of decent choices?!
Cheers
