The wet and black stuff brings the tyres up well, but I'm not sure how long it stays on for.
The Auto-Glym stuff I haven't tried (must be the only product of theirs I haven't lol) so I can't comment.
I use some stuff called "IMAGE Wet Wall weather resistant tyre shine", I've used it for years...

With regards to the lettering, it might be better if you use bluetac to mask the backing off while you paint/spray the letters :)

Regarding the modding advice there are so many subtle mods you can do, from painting your calipers to building a rep like "eikoorb" said, the grille and side repeaters do make a huge difference!

Might have been airgunned on too tight mate, like others have said put a bit of pipe over the end you hold to extend the length, thus making it easier to force :)
If not take it down to a local garage, give them a couple of £ to airgun it off, make sure you "nip" it back on before you drive...

Genuine renault side reps from Renault directly are about £18 for the two, you can get them from a scrappy pretty easily because they're not just made for renault, a lot of cars have the same shape.

A lot of the time it's from a respray, most primers leave the orange peel so you have to wet sand the primer and flat it all out, otherwise eventually it shows through the paint :(
