Used copper tubing to fix my exhaust hangers for the grand sum of £1.70 from wickes and got rid of the annoying clunking that turned out to be the heat shield above the back boxes and not the exhaust as I first thought. Also found out my centre hanger is FUBAR and isn't doing anything..
You could pretty much get to stock ride quality if keeping the damping low so yeah I'd say you'd be able to make it similar and then tweak it very quickly for track when you go on.
Actually I think that might have been on the stock dampers with lowering springs (how I got the car)
This is definitely BC's and wheels powdercoated (Y)
They were very good to be honest, only thing I found (and this may have changed by now) is that I couldn't get the front end low enough. And I'm not talking about slammed unusable, I'm talking lower than stock! They had to send me some shorter springs with a slightly higher spring rate (6kg/mm...
I keep being reminded of these. I LOVE them. my first quick car was a 257bhp Rev 3 GTS just like yours on an n reg. I got it as a fresh JDM import with 100,000km on the clock and it ran so sweet. Black with white enkei rp01's and cusco front brace. then I fitted BC coilovers, Bride drivers seat...
Hi guys,
I've done some research of my own (was up all last night) and think I'm going to go with the KTR/Janspeed cat back exhaust. However they do the two, one is of the piper style with the "traveservely" mounted box that's called the Ultra (sounds nice on vids!) and one that's like the...
Just fitted some Carbon Lorraine RC5+ to my 182 ff. Sweet jesus. Combined with Brembo HC's. They stop. and quick. I've only given them some island and b road testing but so far they're incredible. Can't wait for Curborough next Saturday!
Minimal brake pressure needed so you can tickle the brakes...
Nice weather so finally got my Brembo HC and the Carbon Lorraine's fitted up front. Standard pads I was replacing had indeed been Cooked up Curborough, so much so that pad material had come away from the backing on one pad! Haha. The CL's though, omfg. Clunk clunk squeel squeel STOP STOP STOP...
I did indeed, I tried all of my old ones, Sky, Adrian Flux, Chris Knot and I couldn't get anything good. I really couldn't understand it. My cheapest ended up coming from a comparison site! (first time ever)
Cheers Neil, I'd hope it was dirt cheap by now (like on my MX5). I will definitely...
Can anyone explain to me why my insurance is nearly £600 fully comp. I'm now 27, have something like 8 years no claims. one none fault claim in 2010 and live in a WS13 postcode! Could not get any cheaper! With a rubbish company called premium choice at the moment but due for renewal in a month...
Well this is the likely outcome, it was just an idea to be honest! I loved my old omp trecento in suede I had on an old car, so I'll probably end up with one of those again.
Yeah it's a nice idea but as you say unlikely to be a bolt on job. Anyone know the spline pattern on the wheel?
Ah that makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up. I presume this is the same EU reg that means you need an airbag if you had one fitted from factory? Basically a "you can add things but you can't take things away" regulation...
This is only an opinion I've built up based upon a lot of reading a few years ago but AFAIK the decat itself (which is the question) is not illegal. However with most cars, the by-product of having a decat is that you'll fail the emissions test which would make the car not roadworthy.
I had an...
Absolutely, unfortunately (I don't know the exact size) they're not small enough.
Thank you for the input though guys, it is appreciated.
Like I say I'm honestly not bothered about fitting a non bagged one, it's just that if it's possible with a good wheel that's small enough then it could be...
Bit of a random one but just more out of curiosity, are there any smaller wheels (300mm - 320mm) that have an airbag that would fit to a 182? I appreciate its a vague question but I'm just wondering as I want to get a smaller wheel and if I can get one with an airbag as opposed to a non airbag...
Woo direct responses haha. Cheers guys for confirming you experience the same.
I'm not Schumacher but I do know how to drive on the limit pretty well and I can confirm it was a case of balance not bravery but your point is completely fair had that been the case.
I've managed to neutralise it a...
Funny you mention those as I was reading about them recently and as you say they're a prime example of a diamond in the rough. Has anyone got any suggestions on where to get these cheap, I'm aware of Camskill and I'm lucky to have a cheap place by me but I don't think they'd do these. Tah!
I would say you're probably right, unfortunately I can't seem to get a good balance playing with pressures and even at standard pressures you could see scrubbing over half way down the sidewall after going round Curborough !
Oddly I've just tried 26 in the front and it seems potentially better...
Nail on the head. That's exactly why I do try out these new cheaper tyres, in case I suddenly find a hidden gem. Unfortunately its not the case this time but its always worth a try. I appreciate tyres seem to be pretty much "get what you pay for" but let's be honest guys there's a lot of stuff...
I do hope you're not including me in that as I can assure I'm not stupid, just like to test for myself rather than presuming that what you read is correct online. I would've thought maxxis new top of the range summer tyre would be OK as I've heard some positive things but damn they suck haha...
Haha, you know, I've been waved at by at least some 197/200 owners but still no 172/182 owners. I see a guy in a 172 cup EVERYDAY and I catch his eye and annoyingly wave at him and he just ignores. How can you have a cup and not have some sort of understanding or club feeling when seeing other...
