If you're a scene kid who likes to look performance because you can't afford the insurance yet for a 2.0l and ^ then sorting a car out properly and making it sound and look excellent is not a bad thing nor is it a bad idea.
As mentioned previously, you can get a mapper to sort that out for you but you'll need to remove your cat (as it will kill it anyway) and get a stainless steel system. Just be aware that you'll suck much more petrol up by doing this and there is a hefty fee for turning back if you don't like it.
Thank you for being the only one to contribute something decent to these threads. Everyone is different, everyone likes different things. I happen to think the 1.4 Clio's are rather nippy.
I'm considering buying a cheap 1.2 to use as a run around that I can get insurance for. I've a feeling driving the 200 back and forth uni every day is going to seriously dent my wallet.
Re: Newbie From Coventry!
How old are you bro? I'm 20 and have a Clio 200. It's blackboxed but only as a bonus accelerator. There is no downside to having it blackboxed. It was the only insurance company that would take me even with a crash on my name and I pay £1500.
It was a KTEC map that I had on the car and I was warned multiple times by the people on here not to use them. Shame it took a half blown engine for me to realise how w**k they are at mapping TCE's.
Emblem, I had 172/182 Injectors in the car, yes; they are something you should go for 100%...
Just letting you know that changing the valve will do nothing. The power drops off because the turbo is so small. Mine used to hit limp mode at 4.5K RPM because it would run out of air and misfire. Not a good car to modify to be honest. I have a K03s for sale that you can have which I was going...
You should have a vacuum line from your intake manifold to your dump valve or atmos valve, I believe you can t in to that? If yours is mapped you should be hitting 14-18psi on full throttle depending on the gear. Not sure about standard. They are teeny turbos.
So you're saying you'll get a slight neck snap in the new Fiesta ST but the Clio's smooth torque curve will make it feel slower but will be exactly on par?
I had a Clio TCE with 172/182 Injectors, Panel Filter, Cat Back, Platinum Spark Plugs etc. It made 120 (130 on KTEC dyno) and eventually broke past 4.5K RPM. Don't get me wrong, it kicked lovely at 2.5K RPM but after that - total s**t.
Stay away from KTEC. It took me an experience to believe...
Just be aware that anything you do to the Clio will worsen it until you get it remapped. You'll end up with the infamous flat spot if you mess about with the exhaust.
Schrick Cams,
V6 Airbox + 63mm Throttle Body
Akrapovic Evo Exhaust System
Enlarged Intake
Now, if your after faster laps; someone else will elaborate on cheaper modifications to get more out of the cars already-good handling.
Used Pipercross on my old TCE. Genuinely could feel improvement at the top of the rev range as stupid as it sounds. I've got another coming for my 200.
