Quick update on the flamer as of lately. Things have gone down hill unfortunately and have been considering getting rid of it.
After having spent loads of money on it lately with the Cambelt kit, and new PAS pump etc, the gearbox has now decided its on its last legs and requires a rebuild...
Is there not a company where you can give them your old box and exchange for a rebuilt unit? Like part ex'ing? So they sell you a new box and take off money for your buggered one? Surely there must be something like that out there. Just looking at all the options before I jump in and spend...
Probably wasn't you then :/ I beeped them and he looked right at me! Seen a few trophies around here lately thinking about it. Also there's another flamer driving round the area that is lowered like mine..! So much for the rarity factor!
Hi all.
are there any companies out there at all that hold recon boxes on the shelf at all? And then you could possibly sell them the gearbox from your car.? I've heard about agency transmissions but just don't really want loads of downtime wth the car as I use it a hell of a lot and don't have...
Thankyou mate :) ideas are running thin, but finally have the inlets I've wanted for a while and have a 98ron map on its way very shortly thanks to Oli CUB :)
After that though I'm not sure. Might get some different alloys eventually when I need new tyres and possibly an exhaust but it's all...
Update :)
So. Massive thanks to Mike (budgie) for fitting me some JMS matched inlets today! Car feels amazing now, made such a difference to the power delivery! (I didn't even have an RS inlet so gone from worst to best :) )
Cheers Budgie !
More updates will come soon
I read up the most they've charged is £275 and that was on a mashed box. Im going to give them a call In the new year also and get a rough price :)
Bloody cars are a pain!
I will definitely 100% be getting it refurbed. Not even trying my luck with a 2nd hand box.
Won't be fitting myself either, will go to a specialist with it or see if I can get a friend who's very mechanically minded to help me. I can do certain jobs, but a box change on the road outside my...
Yeah id definitely get a new clutch on it. Hopefully it'll last me a while longer yet if I top up oil.
Just more of the inconvenience factor of it that's annoying, not so much the cost.
are there any companies out there people recommend to get it refurbed by?
Cheers
Il have to look into it. I have a specialist I've been talking to a lot lately; worst case scenario il just ring him up and ask.
Either way I can see it being a massive pain in the arse!
Here's a good one, down by the Britannia pub in Guildford.
Also my mate works in debenhams and has spent the day today vacuuming up water from the bottom floor. Still isn't finished.
Mental really
How do I go about fixing the leak? It's the selector seal I believe that is leaking (heard its common) ... But yeah, how do I fix this? Surely I don't have to top up the oil every month?! As it's a shitty job to do.
Cheers
Haha I was behind my mate Scott in his 182 and flashed him as I saw you up the road. Then we caught up for a bit of a play :p I got all excited too - sad really!
I had my girlfriend In the car, Scott was alone.
What mods have you got? Looked quick off the mark!
Tbh I doubt it's anything come loose as it has been whining for a while now.
How much am I looking at to get this job done? IE, getting the box rebuilt and then fitted?
Is it worth topping up the oil and keeping it going until it goes bang?
Cheers all
After some advice.
My gearbox since I got the car has had a slight whine in 5th gear. Lately it's started to, not crunch... But make an odd grinding sort of noise going into 5th (all other gears are fine).
Now... In 5th when I let off the accelerator it makes a whirring noise and if I'm doing...
