I'm not so sure the bodyshops around the country will be happy if anyone is influence to follow my 'methods' lol, they'd get very busy pretty quickly tbh!
Its not really rat themed, those guys are committed. Its mostly just cheap themed... When I'm earning moneys again then the plan is to make it into a nice S13 again. I originally bought the car to learn how to do stuff like bodywork and etc myself and also as a track s**g so I'm not too fussed...
So I spent sometime sanding down the filler Dad put on yesterday to realise, the extra filler really wasn't necessary on a couple of bits... I got it down so it felt smooth to the body then got on smoothing it right down to 1200grit ready for another coat of primer. The primer went on and it...
Wrong inferno ;)
I would never risk lifting my car up using a forklift personally but the pallets are a brilliant ramp lol, but be carefull i've seen them snap with only 500KG rolls on purely because the weight was at a finer point, a pallet will hold easily over a ton provided the weights...
However, mods shouldn't add to the value of the car too much. Look for cheaper 182s around, you can find them for around £5k at the moment if you look hard enough.
Update:
Its been slow this week due to spending a couple of days in Leeds at a mates but its defo moving on...
1st up, like I said I had fibreglassed the boot and it was quite raised from the boot, not really a surprise but the fact that I didnt smooth the fibreglass before adding filler made...
not read through too much but I'm on the reverse of it now, I had modified cars from the start and spent a small fortune on my 1.2 clio but on my Iggy Sport I literally only bought a couple of bits to improve the handling such as ARBs and strut braces and some wider wheels. My 197 was completely...
heh, hindsite is a good thing. I've done a lot of work today on the boot including various amusing tools and I now have an almost perfectly smooth boot, the only issues are a couple of cracks in the filler so obviously my friend watching TV to mix the filler, failed :D I'll get some pics up...
Todays updates:
The roof, is a disaster to be frank. Rollers should never ever be used for painting cars and so when I can be arsed its getting rattle canned... This disappointment out of the way onto the holes in the boot. My friend came over today with a glass fibre kit and so we got on with...
Saw you weaving/cutting through lanes and flying past punto's mid afternoon today, had a CS sticker. You need to chill out a bit and you need some wheel spacers dude ;)
Is it a replica?
Todays work:
ummm, 3rd coat applied:
I actually dont think oranges have as bad an orange peel effect:
So after the paint had dried this afternoon I started attacking it with 1500grit, didnt wet sand it because I just wanna get it smooth then I can paint it again, the result is a smooth orange...
Barrier cream works for about half an hour lol, then it fails again. Gloves dont work because my hands sweat then itch anyway. A suggestion made when I went to be a tech at Citroen was wool gloves with rubber gloves over the top but again my hands just got sweaty and horrible... Tried everything...
Ok the roofs sanded down and I decided to go with hammerite. Sadly halfords only had black in a tin so I bought a tin thinking I can brush it and if necessary I can wet and dry it flat...
But when I got home all I could find was a paint roller, however again if the finish is as horrible as I...
From experience, the mk2 gearbox feels absolutely f*ckin horrible compared to a 197. However, I had a B&M short shift on my mk2 (1.2) and it felt a lot nicer, comparable in terms of feels and throw to the 197.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
phew, just caught up on this whole thread now jord, and based on your work with your wiring looms I'm holding you to your deal. I changed the title you help wiring the SX lol...
Right, I have been halted by lack of monies again in terms of gettin the mechanicals working basically because when my friend comes to do the turbo i need the money to tax, mot and insure the SX to drive him back home, to cornwall, so it should be a good test to see if we have truly fixed it or...
I think DJW_Dave or DJW_John used to have one but I'm not 100%. I've moved this thread in here to see if you will get the answers your looking for this is the right section for engine technical queries. I know they've been done on here before but im not sure of the username, sorry.
Where abouts in the NW are you? If you're not too far from Bolton take it to Renault Bolton, they are Renault UK not an independant and they are very good imo. as has been said if you tinker and you dont fix it they might blame it not working on your tinkering so void the warranty...
