His car was insanely quick, quite taken aback when a little 106 comes around on the first lap up with the Class B cars. Anyone know what failed on it? Didn't seem obvious, just peeled into the pits midway through. Too quick?
A few pics from a hugely enjoyable day at Combe. Busy as ever and the grids didn't disappoint either (average of 35 or something along those lines)
Spotted RIXPH in the car park, near a very tidy 172 and white Audi R8.
A few piccies anyhow...
The R8s were rapid, up with the Morgan and Aston in the first race and most finished well up the order in both races. Sooooo quiet though (comparatively), they could probably even run at Castle Combe without upsetting the neighbours.
Hard to say on the GTR, only Quali to go on really as it...
Great write up, always look forward to these.
What's your calendar like for the rest of this year? Will have to get along and try and get some pics this year.
Some lovely car park metal there, aside from a Veyron I didn't see too much dotted around on Saturday.
Great shots, what parts of the track did you visit? The place is so big it's hard to tell!
This wasn't as good as I was expecting, the new Lambo Trophy Championship pulled out at the last minute due to 'money issues', so some fairly lengthy gaps in the day, and the GT4 was frankly, rubbish.
The GTs and GT3 were fantastic though, particularly the GT3s which had an insane grid and...
The completely full order book disagrees with you.
What are the chances of ever seeing one of these moving? Unless AM kindly decide to show this off at Goodwood FoS (they have no need to) I can't imagine ever seeing one of these.
Absolutely, you could see it on the LCD immediately, especially on the grass which looked much more realistic.
I still use Vivid for absolutely everything else as I love the look of it, but with the silly shutter speeds I use for motorsport I think the processor was probably struggling to...
Adjusted quite a few settings on the D90 when I arrived at Thruxton on Saturday, basically stripped it back to base level so the JPEG would end up roughly how a RAW file would come out.
What do you think? The grass is definitely more realistic now and to my eye they are finally starting to...
Auto-focus, but quite often for that sort of shot I change the point to one nearer the left hand side (for a car coming in from the right), as more often than not the nose of the car is nearer the edge of the frame.
But yes, practice practice practice unfortunately, no easy way around it.
Do you mean this sort of thing...?
1/200
If so, just stick to what you're doing with side-on panning but force a bit more movement into it, I think I usually track the car, then before taking the shot pan more towards the nose of the car, then hit the shutter.
1/320 - 1/200 should get...
Superb weekend, loved every minute of it. Today - amazingly - was my first visit to an actual raceday of a two day meet, bit busy for my liking but the on-track action was spectacular. Loads of pics, anyhow...
Top stuff, and great to see you yesterday. Love the rear Ginetta shots in particular, but then I do have a bit of a thing for those cars.
So windy down there I nearly gave up, was only getting about 1 out of 10 remotely sharp.
I took it along, found a nice spot and chilled out in the same spot all day. I'm thinking it's the way forward, as I got the camera ready for the first lap of each race and ended up catching loads of crashes. It was at least as busy as you described so I'm glad you have me a heads up on that, I...
This is officially the greatest thing me and the other half have ever seen in our lives!
Born and bred, 100% Westbury I am (with a little Dilton Marsh in the mixer)
But seriously, where do we get these? Need them in our lives.
Somebody with a Canon can explain properly, but Shutter Priority on the main dial ('Tv' on a Canon iirc), and then scroll until it says 320.
I'd concentrate on settings rather than finding a new lens, a new lens will make no difference if you're not set up correctly.
