i have the complete phase 1 which is a non runner. the idea is to get hold of a new engine. having the option of a phase 1 or phase 2 improves my chances of getting something a bit more readily. i will simply be looking to transplant it all over.
I dont fully remove it from the engine bay but just hang it over the passenger wing.
The secret with the 172 is that there are no short cuts...believe me i have tried and it takes longer ! I am always concerned by the angle it has to come out and back in at. When dropping it back in try and get...
after closer investigation i have checked the compressions of each cylinder. reading left to right 0 psi, 30 psi, 30 psi, 150 psi. i think this is looking more and more like a headgasket. i had noticed over a few weeks that it had used a little water but put it down to a leak from a jubilee...

On the way home last night engine toxic fume warning flashed then stopped then flashed again then stopped. Half a mile up the road and the engine stops with the chritmas tree warnings. Pullover and just turns over. Can see cams moving so not cambelt. Removed the plugs this morning and no...

Assuming it has a warranty then let them get on with it. If they all have fat fingers then engine out is a good option. Get them to check the clutch at the same time. Wont take long to drop the box off when the engine is out.
I see the arb mounts to the axle beam then picks up from the damper mount of the hub. Surely there is no load between these points.
Can anyone explain how the arb functions ?
When fitting arb to other cars have always fixed the bar to the chassis. The as each wheel goes into bump then the load...
