You will see the importance of the bolt when you put the box back on. Allows you to locate the piggin thing while you break your back trying to lift it into place. Feeling strong ???
what ever you do dont losen the flange around the input shaft to the box. I did and it spewed all the box oil out over the nice new shiny clutch :(
By moving it i had popped the seal off the back of the flange. Fortunately on a Phase 1 172 box it pushes back in. Apparently with a later box...
MR Clutchquoted me £250 for a clutch change. I asked twice before i believd them.

After sorting my gearbox out i started the car and then found that the emission light was on. After checking i realised that i had not reconnected the exhaust sensor which is next round the back of the gearbox.
Is this a case of having the fault cleared ? My guess it registered as the system...
Having replaced my clutch i then had an oil leak into the bellhousing. Turns out the pressure plate is coated in oil. How likely is it that the drive plate is also coated ? What can i use to wash the contaminants off with ? Can brake cleaner be used ?
Dont really want to shell out for a new...
i have a serious leak from inside the gearbox. looks to be coming from behind the thrust sleeve guide. apparently from the online manuals this has a double lip seal that sits behind the flange.
the manual indicates that special tools are required to replace this but it can be done without...
£140 for an in and out ! rip their hand off ! clutch change is quoted at 7.5 hrs in the book.... work it out for yourself ? thats less than £20 an hr !!!
Just to update.
Had a close look today and it would seem i have shot myself in the foot over this. Oil is definitely leaking from input shaft into bellhousing.
Must have disturbed the seal as danny states. "If it aint broke dont fix it". Those words are ringing around my head.
Having a...
