Just to add i had no idea of its rarity when i first bought.
Oddly i bought it from a guy who sold advertising in the 'yellow pages', hence the colour ! He was the original owner. im the second owner
X881FPP is still in my possession.
Owned it since 2007, was on 85k now on 140k. On the second engine. All original apart from eibach road springs.
One day i will get around to it. Needs sills plating.
I even have a box full of centre caps.
I paid 2k for it in 2007 and ran it for 4 years...
Yes they come away very easily, drill the rivets off. full of crap behind them. I expected mine to be much worse and around the filler cap it is perfect.
I have a phase 1 sunflower that I have owned for 10 years. Has been off road for 4 years.
Stripping off all bodywork to see how we look.
Where do these things rust ? I heard they can be prone to age in some areas.
I still have my ph1 sunflower that I bought 10 years ago. Has been standing in the back garden for 4 years now. It is fully original apart from eibach springs which replaced the originals when one broke. Have been collecting parts on and off for a few years now and considering put it back on the...
A few pictures as requested. Still looks good after not turning a wheel for 4 years. I have the original bumper in the garage waiting to be repaired and painted .
The sunflower hasnt been on the road for 4 years now. Kept in back garden. Still starts on the button and looks really good despite its age and 140k miles.
What should i do to protect it further ? Isnt even kept under cover. Can somebody recommend steps to protect it ?
unfortunately it looks like the tree sap has made the roof and bonnet very flat. i did clay it but it looks deeper than that. could it be machine polished out ?
if it comes to that i will put another motor in it. its an easy enough job. it has been out twice already and then fitted a new motor when the earlier went south
i wont be doing any mechanicals on it..im not going to drive it. i want to restore it back to how it was when on the road. it has big sentimental value for me. will never be sold.
