just did the same myself. understeered into a high kerb on petrol forecourt.
slight front bumper, wheel, mashed foglight and damaged wheelarch liner.
steering to the left heavily. checked one side to the other and the bottom arm is bent :(
could be worse i guess...
In my experience a clutch bearing tends to squeal and also this cant be heard from the gearbox side. Leads me to believe its not release bearing.
Will be a s**t if it is bearing :(
My 2000 172 has developed a knocking noise ( sounds like tappets if i didnt know better ! ) when at idle and clutch is pushed to the floor. Doesnt sound like clutch bearing either and i cant hear it from under the bonnet , only from inside and i seems to be coming from the driver side. As i...
Drive faster. This gets more heat into the tyres so that they grip more ................................................................................. ;)
i put a new one in mine. The sensor is about £22 from Renault.

NOt sure if this is gearbox related but the speedo on my PH1 172 has become erratic. At times it reports speed perfectly but then sometimes it drops and then comes back and so on. I guess it is aproblem with the speed sensor as the odometer also stops recording. Where is the sensor ? Cheers
i am interested to know whether all this lowering stuff improves the handling ?
i can have a guess at no........
your problem is easy to solve.
remove all dampers and replace with solid bars. this will remove all movement of suspension and stop the body rolling. you may need a new spine...
learn from experience. fix the headgasket and dont take any short cuts. head off
new gaskets and refit properly. dont forget to get it skimmed unless you want to do it all again in a few weeks / months. possible replace the thermostat also.
does the heater still work ?
