Leave the bottom ring on IMO, will make sure the spring is seated corrected. Otherwsie the spring will just be sitting on the arm. Just my 2 pence anyway :)

Ok in this picture, the red things circled you should have those? Or something similar There are two locking rings, you need the one thats on top as thats what the springs sit on, the bottom one i got rid of and just put the platform ring right to the bottom.

You want to just be leaving the platform for the springs to sit on, and removing the other o ring. If that makes sense.
